Don't like it. I don't know why so many attempts to be green end up being so unbearably ugly. Lego furniture? Really? Who would ever want to sit on that for more than 5 minutes? Wasting materials is still waste, even if it is recycled.

Lego's and it's chubby little brother Duplos are the one "toy" my college age son packed away and put in the attic with "KEEP" signs taped to the boxes...and we do have boxes of them.
I think they are the heirloom toy of the future.

HAH, this is pretty neat. From a legomaniac standpoint.
And I loved LEGOs growing up.

So, now, instead of allowing my girlfriend to just TAKE her stuff, I'll just knock down her creations and force her to build them over!

Maybe eco-friendly, but it doesn't look very body-friendly.

+1 - nice to look at, definitely trendy maybe, but like (all?) Frank Lloyd Wright's furniture, not designed to be actually USED, doncha know!

Yeah doesn't look too comfortable.
Unless of course you're configured like the Lego people.

Since China is exporting borax to us, y not Leggo knock offs from Indonesia?

Does it leave circle indentations on your rear?

Maybe they double as potties.
12:58 AM on 05/10/2010
..."potties" one becomes attached to because, "Extrusion A" inserts perfectly into, "Concave Circular Prism A-H"

Great, except no one will sit in them. Novelty items that no one really wants to use is the problem here. Uncomfortable chairs have a history of dying laughably as relics of an unrealistic and ignored art form.

Aargh! No! Take it away!

Aren't we already living in an almost Legoland architecturally?

No More!

Picture 2 is amazing to me....snap housing....why don't we have something like that ?...and those are made of plastic....look at all safe housing we could have for people... in Katrina and ..Hati..etc...stop putting plastic in the landfill...why throw away something that will last forever or a very long time ?

You would probably need some sort of "locking" mechanism to keep the bricks together, as well as some way to anchor it to the ground. Both problems could probably be overcome with ease. Also, you could probably stuff the insides of the bricks with newspaper for insulation.

And there is the problem of the infrastructure of a house-elect., gas, hvac, plumbing/venting.

Actually isn't there a bldg system similar to this it was styrofoam blocks and then the cavity is filled with concrete, and the outsides are finished as desired-stucco, paneling/siding, veneer, stone/brick etc.

They sorta remind me of the compressed hay "blocks" used to build the energy efficient house across the street. They connected them with rebar and pumped in a hard foam to seal between each block. It was all covered with cement siding and stone veneer.

Recycled plactic that was made from oil. How is this green?
05:28 PM on 05/09/2010
Agreed!
Lego is anything but eco friendly.

I'm guessing these are probably weather safe (though they might blow away). I'm guessing the furniture wouldn't be any less comfortable than your average bench. Imagine the landscaping possibilities!

The furniture couldn't feel much different than the solid block foam furniture you can get at IKEA,Urban Outfitters etc. If the pegs were made from a much less dense foam it could be comfy.

It sounds like a great way to recycle plastics.

In pictures 3 and 4 it looks like they're using some sort of black insert to act as a cushion.

I like the idea, but how comfortable would they be as furniture? I'm sure I stepped on at least one errant Lego in bare feet when I was little, and, ouch.

I have a 3 and a 5 year old. I just refer to them as 'land mines'.

This furniture makes my feet hurt. The coffee table was cool lookin tho. Oh the irony of stepping on the smaller counterpart only to stub one's toe on that coffee table...

We used a dust pan (clean, not "used") to scoop up the bricks after we were done. The kids loved using it. I made sure to mark the dust pan with a permanent marker so we wouldn't use it for spills.
