Colorado Medicaid Payments Delayed Because Of Computer Glitch

Another Computer Glitch Delays Benefits Payments In Colorado

The Denver Channel in Denver reports that a glitch in the State of Colorado's computer system has prevented payment of Medicaid reimbursement at over 900 pharmacies.

The money, which was supposed to be deposited two weeks ago into the bank accounts of pharmacies that filed Medicaid claims, had yet to show up on Monday night.

The state said that a computer glitch caused the problem, and promised to have the funds transferred by Tuesday.

This development comes after problems with the state's computer systems have hindered benefits payments for several programs. In February, a computer glitch delayed the payment of unemployment benefits to 42,000 Coloradans. The payments were eventually made.

Prior to that error, the state's computers erroneously told the family of a 9-year-old boy with asthma that he was ineligible for Medicaid prescription drug benefits. The boy eventually died of an asthma attack.

Colorado also ranks dead last in the country in distributing food stamps on time.
