Patrice Cormier Charged With Assault After Barbaric Hit (VIDEO)

Patrice Cormier, the former captain of Canada's world junior hockey team, has been charged with assault for a barbaric hit against an opponent in January. According to the Canadian Press, Rouyn-Noranda authorities have charged Cormier with assault causing injury. He could face up to 18 months behind bars.

The brutal hit caused victim Mikael Tam to convulse on the ice, and he reportedly ceased breathing for half a minute. Cormier was suspended for the remainder of the season. Scroll down to watch the vicious elbow.
