Rima Fakih Stripper PHOTOS: Miss USA's Pole Dancing Past Revealed; Pageant Officials Investigate (PICTURE, POLL)

First Posted: 05/17/10 06:47 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:30 PM ET

It didn't take long for the new Miss USA to become embroiled in a scandal: Rima Fakih--an Arab-American from Dearborn, Michigan, who was crowned Miss USA on Sunday night--was exposed on Monday as a former champion pole dancer by radio show MojoInTheMorning.com, which posted photos of Fakih participating in the "Stripper 101" contest at The Coliseum Gentlemen's Club in Detroit in 2007.

MojoInTheMorning.com congratulated Fakih, a former Catholic school girl, on their website, adding "Much like Miss Michigan Kristen Haglund who won Miss America in 2008, Rima is a Mojo In The Morning listener who has joined us in studio and at events. Check out Miss USA Rima Fakih when she won Mojo In The Morning's "Stripper 101" contest in 2007."

Here's one photo, you can find more photos at MojoInTheMorning.com.

Since Mojo posted the photos, RadarOnline reports that pageant officials have contacted the radio station. A spokesperson told RadarOnline.com that they "asked for any unreleased photos that we have. We do have a few, but we're not sending them out. When we asked if everything was ok and if it would affect her crown, they said they couldn't make a comment on that right now."

Mojo's spokesperson also adds "She won a personal stripping pole for your house and we had an adult company that gave away all kinds of toys and dirty things that make me blush."

she should be aware of the things she had done and the long term effect that she will inflict to others before joining the contest. She had stirred the muslim’s emotion in her own way. This will lead to feed back from other muslims and this will create issues and arguments that will never end just because they don’t really understand Islam. This will open the door for unnecessary arguments and wasting a lot of time. This also will open a way for any anti-Islam opportunists use the argument to make things worst and in the end muslim will be the scapegoat. So please think hard and carefully before you do something that going to affect something or somebody else. Thank you.

If more so-called muslim girls assimilated like Rima we wouldn't be having any problems with them. She is beautiful and free-spirited, something islam detests, so she is hardly stereotypical.

I hope she can influence many more muslim women to free themselves from the wicked and unnatural strictures of the cult which (technically) she cannot leave on pain of death.

By the way if she was to wish to leave the religion, would she be protected by the US constitution or condemned by sharia law?

Think long and hard before you allow sharia law into the US. Next thing there will have to be squads of "religious police" as in Saudi Arabia to enforce the law.

Good luck to her, I don't consider her to be a "muslim" in any religious sense, she is just a young healthy vibrant woman enjoying her natural beauty and sexuality.

Full marks to her!

You know close to nothing about Islam, (did you learn this all from FOX) this is the most prejudiced, uneducated, uninformed, one sided typical American comment I've ever seen in the Huff. Start by looking up the definition of the word cult, if Islam fits the bill then so does Christianity. Your sexism is vile; it's not for you to decide who’s Muslim and who is not. Islam has been butchered by Americans needing a scapegoat and Middle Eastern fundamentalist trying to fight oppression with hate and oppression. Very few Muslims experience Islam the way you’ve described, in their own homes daughters are equal and a festive and giving life is desired. Open a Quran, if you can handle the left to right you might learn something.

I don't know a lot about Islam either, but I know it is wrong to require women to cover themselves from head to toe. It is especially egregious when done under the name of religion.

I recommend you read a book called "The Islamist" by Ed Husain, who was once a leader in the British Islamist movement. The proactive aggression of Islamists has nothing to do with Muslim fundamentalists trying to fight oppression, but has everything to do with notions sprouting from Islam, one being that Muslims must take over the western world and set up states run by Allah, which by definition means the end of democracy.

Everyone should learn pole dancing. It's a great exercise and very entertaining.

Who cares if she is a stripper or a pole dancer. The Miss USA contest is an exploitation of silly fame seeking women who don't have much respect for themselves anyway. The whole concept of a "beauty contest" where someone else judges whether one woman is more attractive than another is so absolutely degrading to women. The entire process is nothing more than legalized prostitution. They allow themselves to be exposed and paraded across a stage for the entertainment of any pervert who wants to watch and it's all done for monetary gain, both by the contestants, the producers, and the advertisers. So, the fact that she has previously allowed her body to be exposed and used before the contest, should have little meaning now.

Rima Fakih is very sweet. I adore her.

Surely the fatwah will come, though some of the posts here suggest to me that it might come from the loony-toon wing of the christian inquisition...

Amen to that!

Earlier, I wrote -

A man can pose nude and get elected to national public office.

A man can sell his sperm but a woman can't sell her eggs.

Women work as exotic dancers, nude or near nude. They pay their rent and put their kids through school, they're not on welfare, no food stamps and yet they're shamed?

I can't find much wrong with what this woman has done.

OTOH, there was the homophobic blond in a different beauty agent ...

Here's a Huffington Post article that should make it to the front page, instead of this garbage:

Kevin Costner to the rescue! No, really. He's got something that could help. Read about it.

Oh, so you're suggesting censoring what makes it on the front page. Got it.

No, he is suggesting a different front page. Why don't you read posts completely before going into your histrionics?

On the one hand I certainly don't see this as classy behavior. On the other hand, it's her life so who cares? Whenever a famous woman does something women all over the country do every weekend, we're suddenly a nation of Puritans acting like the behavior is unprecedented.

I'd say the only story is why she went from looking fit and healthy in 2007 to looking deathly thin at the pageant this year.

First she was a clothed stripper and now she was an underage pole dancer. Keep your argument straight. Also, how do you know she was 17? I guess God told you right?
08:11 AM on 05/23/2010
Wasn't the contest in 2007 and this woman born in 1986?
04:55 PM on 05/20/2010
She was in a room filled with women ...I see no problem...dance on a pole not showing any ass and unshaved areas tasteful she is just having fun...let's move on...what are her charities?
03:57 PM on 05/20/2010
Why all the hubbbub? Can't anyone do anything? I do think she should tighten up those upper thighs if she is going to be photographed in this position. Obviously she does not pole dance very often or she would be in better shape. Also, her hand is in the wrong position on the pole. I realize she is a novice, but these are things she needs to work on.
I am sixty-four and in my physical therapy class we have a pole because it is a fun way to exercise and we all tend to move more and become more involved. You exercise without really realizing what you are doing, but you feel and see the results in your muscles. It also keeps your muscles stretched which is a very good thing as older people tend to get stiff.

Something about that whole picture, 64yo pole dancing, just makes me a bit ill.

How funny.

I am also 64 years old and that's not what my husband says. I can't say anything more about the pole or I'd be banned.

Exercise like crazy and then exercise some more. Believe me, you'll be glad you did.
