NEWARK, NJ (Associated Press) - Federal prosecutors say a New Jersey man sexually assaulted a sleeping female passenger on flight from Hong Kong to Newark.

Ramesh Advani is charged with abusive sexual contact.

Prosecutors say the 63-year-old Berkley Heights resident was seated next to the woman on the Continental Airlines flight.

Authorities say Advani reached under her blanket and sexually abused her.

Authorities say two passengers seated behind the pair observed what was happening and kicked the woman's seat to wake her. The woman awoke and alerted the flight crew.

Advani was detained when the plane landed in Newark on Friday.

An initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday afternoon.

It is not known whether Advani has retained a lawyer.

They should use a dramatization of this for one of those Southwest Airlines "Wanna get away?" commercials.

Watch the airlines offer a "groping section," with an additional fee to sit there. Did this woman take Ambiem?

I wonder if the woman had taken a sleeping pill. Many people do, especially on long flights.

Instead of kicking the seat they should have KICKED HIM !!!!

What a pervert !!!!!

A good lawyer should be able to get him off (no pun intended).

By arguing what? That he dropped something under her blanket and kept trying to retrieve it--over and over again??

She didn't realize anything inappropriate happened until she was awakened by the people in the seat behinh her. So it's his word against people who are accusing him of wrongdoing from a location that is not clearly visible.

Women take strong sleeping pills to get them through
the flight. Not a good idea when you have guys like that
sitting next to you.

Some men do, too. Although I agree that it's riskier for a woman to "knock herself out" on a flight.

I was in church once, and the lady in front of me dress had creeped into her crack. I pulled it out so she wouldn't be embarassed. She looked back at me and said "How Dare You", so I pushed it back in. That's what I get for being a good samaritan.

Assuming you're serious....you must be some kind of pervert.
I cannot imagine putting my hands on a woman under such circumstances. If you had ended up with a year in the lockup----I would have said, "O, well...that's what this idiot deserves.
If your mother didn't teach you "hands off", you are definitely a loser!
And to refer to yourself as a "good samaritan, " is the height of gall!

Why I fly private:

Reason number 12: Sick bast@rds who can't keep their hands to themselves. I would have knocked his F--king teeth out.

I bet this guy watches too much porn and think the stuff he sees there is real!

Now, whenever someone searches his name on the internet, this will come up and I feel for those that has the same name!

Couldn't he keep his hands to himself till he lands in the US and go release those bent up sexual daemons at the right venues?

This qualifies him for the Mile High Hall of Shame!

When will people learn that it isn't okay to force sex acts on other people?

Dudes and Ladies out there- keep your hands to yourself.

Never had this problem when Swiss Army knives were allowed on planes.

Americans who agree to fly as helpless cattle have already given up their rights to defend themselves.

Those who trade freedom for safety deserve neither.

Ben Franklin had it right. And would never flown on an American owned airliner.

:/

You are so right. Remember how it used to be, before all the restrictions? Why you couldn't fly more than two or three times before seeing the next knife fight.

Delusional. Totally delusional.
08:27 PM on 05/25/2010
That guy just needed a good punch in the teeth. No Swiss Army knife needed.

I think the passengers who noticed it should have given this guy the same treatment the crotch bomber received.

Ladies and Gentleman, the Captain has turned on the "No Diddling" Sign. FAA regulations require that you remove your hands and other body parts from the sensitive and private areas of the other passengers and refrain from further diddling until the plane has landed and safely docked at the arrival gate. Your flight attendants will be coming through with a beverage cart shortly.
