Venus Williams' French Open Outfit: Risque & Revealing (PHOTOS)

Venus Williams easily won her opening match at the French Open on Sunday, beating Patty Schnyder with consecutive 6-3 victories. But it was not her performance that drew the most attention. Williams' lacy black-and-red outfit, which gave "the illusion of being see-through" according to the AP, is the tennis star's most talked-about on-court apparel choice since she wore a skimpy green uniform at the Australian Open in January (where she was voted an Australian Open hottie). Urgh. She manages to make herself look even worse than usual by attempting to sex herself up. This is amusing. How vile. If she tried anything like this at Wimbledon she would be attacked by an angry hoard of women armed with tennis racquets.

I bet she won't get away with it at Wimbledon! that's why the English court is still considered the best, because there, it's only the play that counts, none of these commercialized, self-advertised clothes meant to be worn in the bedroom!

my only concern is that my added nervousness during her matches as to whether her girls would pop out is not something that she should have put me through. I am just terrified that the spaghetti straps will not hold them in. Please Venus, my heart can't take it.

Fascinating 4,174 comments over... a dress. One would think that world peace has been achieved, there is no oil spill in the Gulf, 10 - 15 people did not just die on board a ship heading to Gaza with humanitarian supplies, and so many other issues that are going on in the world.

The only thing really newsworthy about this story is the interesting fact that France is considering a law to ban Muslim women from wearing the Burka. Apparently, you can wear as little as you like there, but not too much.

I think perhaps it is time we stop trying to make women wear what we want them to. If you don't like the outfit, then don't look at it, and don't come to sites where you can see it.

This is unbelievable. An article about an outfit turns into some people spewing hatred to the point of comparing Venus' fashion sense to that of Michele Obama. How do you get from tennis to the white house? Perfect example of the hidden hate there is for some people. All this article warranted was I like or didn't like the outfit. Why does our society still have people within it that believes if you don't resemble them you are ugly. For example magilla gorilla, looks like a football player, gross, ugly, etc. Where does anyone get the balls to say this while cowering behind a computer screen. How does this infection still fester in 2010? It is almost to the point where a sensibly reasonable person will think twice about reading these blogs for sake of the hate contained within. I only pray and hope those who monitor these blogs once and for all stop condoning this behavior and block those who are guilty of it. They know who it is because they are repeat offenders. As for the outfit in question it is controversial. Men like it. Racist men like it but won't admit it. Liberated women applaud the courage to wear it. Stuck up women hate it and wished they had the body to wear it. Pray she doesn't sell the style to other players.
