Chicago Gun Violence Continues: At Least Seven Shot Overnight In Chicago

At least seven people were wounded late Monday into early Tuesday throughout Chicago. The wave of violence, which has been coupled with hot temperatures, has left at least 16 people wounded and one dead since late Sunday.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Monday night's violence erupted around 9:30 p.m. in the Logan Square neighborhood:

A 20-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man were stopped in traffic there when a male assailant approached their vehicle and shot them. The woman suffered a gunshot wound to her leg and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital. She is now listed in "stable" condition. The male victim was treated on the scene for a graze wound to his leg.

Three boys, ages 12, 15 and 17, were shot less than an hour later in the Gage Park neighborhood on the South Side, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The 12-year-old was not hospitalized, but the other two were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious-to-critical condition.

About 11 p.m. in Lincoln Park, a 19-year-old was critically wounded in a gang-related shooting, the Sun-Times reports.

A 33-year-old man was critically wounded in a Humboldt Park shooting about 3:45 a.m., the Tribune reports.

Nine people were shot--one fatally--between 9 p.m. on Sunday and 3:20 a.m. Monday, the Tribune reports.

No one was in custody for any of the shootings as of Tuesday morning.
