Group Warns That 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Repeal Will Lead To A Contamination Of 'Gay Blood'

Yesterday, we had the chance to enjoy the way the arguments in favor of maintaining the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy were growing more and more psychotic as the repeal process seemed to be gaining steam.

We had the "everyone is going to get sexually assaulted" argument -- which was weird -- and the "Hitler surrounded himself with gay soldiers because they 'knew no limits'" argument, which was even weirder. But had we hit rock bottom yet? No we hadn't. But that's only because we didn't hear about this one until a few hours later.

Today, right-wing hate-monger Cliff Kincaid's group America's Survival launched a repulsive fear campaign against repeal, warning that "disease-tainted gay blood threatens our troops." The group's abhorrent video -- and the 60 page report that accompanies it -- present ludicrous stereotypes of gay men and women, going so far as to claim that "open and active homosexuals into the U.S. military could very well result in the spreading of deadly HIV-tainted blood throughout the ranks"

That's right: we have achieved "precious bodily fluids" paranoia, which is one of my favorites!

It is interesting to note that if one looks at the most recent data on HIV infection in the united states the heaviest rates of increase are mainly in the Southeastern states and among poor black, hispanic and white men. It is roughly 50% heterosexual as well for new infections. And where does the military get a lot of recruits from? The South.

Now the military does do medical tests and I am willing to bet this includes an HIV test to exclude men and women who are HIV+. But if you have ever been around a bunch or sailors just back from a 6 month deployment in Norfolk, you know they have one thing on their collective minds and it is not attending church services. Count the number of strip clubs outside any military base and consider that in the 16 years of DADT, what does the data show about STD's in the military. I doubt there has been a dramatic rise in HIV infections because of gay enlistments. But I am willing to bet that the military is still showing those horrible old STD movies they used to show back when I was young and foolish not to mention when my father was young and foolish. And for good reason.

This is the most dumb-ass thing these fools have come up with yet.
Oh, and the threat that we'd have 'KLINGER-like' soldiers everywhere? (Well that would actually be okay-he was funny and very kind.) Klinger dressed like that to get OUT of the service, not to
stay in and serve.
