Colbert Reveals The True Villain Of The Oil Spill (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/02/10 12:41 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:40 PM ET

Jon Stewart wasn't the only one returning from hiatus last night. Stephen Colbert was back with his detective hat on, revealing on some mind-blowing truths along the way.

Reimagining the BP catastrophe as a hit summer series, "Grainy Footage of Leaking Underwater Oil Pipe," Colbert dug deep, shedding light on the true villain: Dawn liquid detergent. The soap's effect on James Carville must be stopped.

Stephanie Miller raised the Dawn conspiracy joke on her morning radio show over two weeks ago. This is about the third "coincidence" of a Stephanie Miller joke turning up as a routine on the "Colbert Report" in the past month or so. Stephen, it's time to either cut loose whomever is responsible for these "coincidences" or at least make them change the radio channel in the writers room. Someone is making you look like a thieving hack. You're better than this, Stephen.

Drilling should be done inshore and not in deep water. This accident could have been handled much better if it was in 100 feet of water and not a mile deep, or maybe not happened at all.

Ha! Love Colbert!, but this pup is pissed! Please view my third post on the subject, from a dog's perspective. In this post, I quoted the illustrious Wyatt Cenac, of The Daily Show. Commentary to give you paws...

Genius! President Obama: "it turn out, btw, that oil-ridge today, generally, don't cause spills"; woa, yeah right! I don't believe that our President could look more stupid, than he already looks in the footage! It's a shame!

Republicans blame Obama, Sarah Palin blames environmentalists, Colbert blames Dawn, my finger is getting exhausted!

Don't forget that Osama bin Laden is jealous of BP encroaching on his territory and being more effective against the Great Satan.

To everyone praising Dawn (and more specifically Proctor & Gamble) - they are NOT the "Good Guys"! They happen to make a product (which, by the way, is cruelly tested on lab animals) that removes oil and grease well - that's ALL. This happy benefit was discovered by wildlife volunteers during the clean-up from the Exxon-Valdez oil spill, and they're simply taking advantage of that positive (and free) publicity. P&G has one of the WORST corporate records of lab animal abuse! They conduct painful and cruel product tests on helpless, immobilized, non-sedated lab animals - despite that fact that these tests are not required and outdated (computer simulation test are cheaper, safer, and more accurate). Talk about hypocrisy. PLEASE check this out before heaping any more praise on this company - and boycott P&G if you truly love animals!

BS Alert: Dawn does not donate a dollar for every bottle you buy--- you have to actually go to their website and "activate" your donation before they donate the $1. Absolutely true- go to their website and see. The fine print is on the end of the commercial for about 2 seconds.

If I adopt Stephen Colbert, will he come to our house for Thanksgiving dinner? I wonder if he is as funny in everyday life as he is performing.

Procter & Gamble (maker of Dawn) is actually bigger than BP in market capitalization.

That's how the free market is supposed to work...

what's not supposed to happen is jerry-rigged oil pumps that require the expertise of a Procter & Gamble....

PG now has a bigger market cap than BP because BP stock has fallen dramatically since the oil spill in the Gulf started back in April.
Before the oil spill, BP had a larger market capitalization than PG. If BP goes bankrupt, they will have a market cap of zero, making a whole lot of companies monetarily larger than them.

So now we know... it was all a put up deal. A Dawn conspiracy. Jeeze, conservatives, now we know it wasn't a liberal attack on the rig that made it explode. It was Dawn-ers.

Right....dawners get such joy out of watching the sea life drowning and suffocating under the weight of their "protest".....makes so much sense.
