Why is this so startling? We are sexual creatures and it isn't safe or practical to have sex with the frequency or variety that we would like in our society. The consumption of porn at these levels feels right to me.

Yet pornography dictates sexual behavior and lacks diversity, reason, or respect. We may be sexual creatures but we are also thinking and feeling creatures. We should be using our brains and not be led around by our libidos.

The problem is that even the word, "sex", is thought of pornographic related.

According to City-data.com:
1. Elmhurst's crime index is 98, compared to a US average of 320.9
2. Elmhurst's ratio of registered sex offenders to residents lot smaller than the state average (1 for every 3,539 residents).
3. 90.4% of the population is caucasion
4. For those 15 years and older, 70% are married or widowed and only 7.2% are divorced or separated
5. For those 25 years and older, 91.4% graduated high school, 45.1% have a Bachelor's degree or higher and better than 17% have Graduate or professional degrees
6. The unemployment rate is about 2.8%

8. 58.9% of the population is affiliated with a religious congregation, with better than 97% of that group being Christian, preominantly Catholic

and the most telling statistic of all?

9. 54% of the 2004 presidential vote in 2004 in the county in which Elmhurst sits, voted Republican

What surprises me is that 1/3 of porn viewers are women. The belief used to be that women weren't as visual, and there's very little porn actually made for women.

Women are very visual and it's a fallacy that we're not. You'd think this myth would be shattered already considering how much sexual stuff online is produced by women who are looking for hot guys. Seriously, does everyone have their heads in the sand? The porn industry doesn't make much porn for women because the porn industry doesn't exist to help people have sex, it exists to make money. Men are easier to manipulate into spending on their libidos, so porn takes the easy target.

Thanks. And I did mention 'as' visual. I've watched lesbian porn (made by lesbians for lesbians) and it has a very different rhythm from films made for men, but don't know what heterosexual women ( the majority) are looking for. Do you have a favorite porn movie?
