Gulf Coast Oil Spill: Boulder's National Center For Atmospheric Research Predicts Spread To The Atlantic

The oil that has been gushing out of a broken well in the Gulf of Mexico for more than a month will likely reach the Atlantic Ocean and then travel up the coast to North Carolina with the Gulf Stream, according to a scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder.

NCAR scientist Synte Peacock worked with colleagues to feed information into a computer model of ocean currents to determine how the massive oil spill is likely to spread.
