Who Would Buy That? The Funniest Sale Signs Of All Time (PHOTOS)

Huffington Post     First Posted: 06/03/10 09:35 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 05:40 PM ET

We all love a good sale. Just the sight of a "Clearance" or "Bargain" sign can send good consumers into a frenzy. However, you better check the math of that sale twice. Some of these "sales" are really scams and some of these items really shouldn't be on sale at all. From "used" cows to "3 For The Price Of 3" sales, we've found the worst deals around. I will forever regret not taking a picture outside a small store in some rural town. It said 'Expert taxidermy' on one line and the next line said 'Homemade sausages'. Ick.

These have always been amusing. I knew this salesguy who was selling some children's books. He would say they were $2.50 each or two for $5.

I'd really like to know what the Marinated Rape was actually supposed to read. (That one provoked an actual snicker too)
Can't think of anything with those last 3 letters that makes sense.

Chicken Poop, for the uninitiated, is/was a great lip balm. It said right on the stick, "Does not contain poop." I guess this store had some leftover stock; I tried to find it for a while and eventually gave up.

Oh my goodness! I drove by that ridiculous "Used Cows" sign (somewhere in KY) every time I made the trip between home and college when I was in school. It became my nearly halfway there landmark, and I was so tempted to call every time. Hilarious!!

"3 for the price of 3" is from 7-11's Qwikee Mart changeover for The Simpsons Movie. The store was full of funny signs like that.

Marinated rape doesn't exactly fit in. It's not the same kind of humor because one can buy marinated rape in many stores.

why is #2 on there? clearly the first number is on the ground and fell off. It was not meant to be 0% off. HP should not have included that as that was not the store's intent. Part of the sign simply fell off. There is a guy leaning over edge of roof. I bet this pic was taken just after he dropped that part of the sign. you can clearly see him looking over the edge of the roof.

you think? wow, did you go to a special school to become smart enough to make ridiculously obvious comments on blogs? that school had the short buses, right?
let me answer your question:'why is #2 on there?'...number 2 is on there because when assembling a series of photos to fit in with the theme of the post, there are only so many superb examples out there. so to round out the collection, sometimes some marginal examples must be included. this is not by any means the first time marginal examples have been used, nor will it be the last. however, it is evident from your question, that you must be brand spanking new to the internet. so, let me warn you now, in the next few years, as you browse various blogs, you will see marginal examples used quite frequently, so get used to it. also, what is funny to some, is not at all funny to others. if it bothers you that much, well, cross HP off your list of blog sites to visit.

That first sign should be mandatory at all BP stations.

LOL.
In addition to the bad math, #14 has "Eclipse" spelled as "Elcilps.

Nice catch, choot! As if the word weren't RIGHT THERE with the correct spelling (OK, maybe the sign was made in a different location, but still!).
