Kate Gosselin On 'Today': How I Explain Jon's Girlfriends To The Kids

Kate Gosselin visited the Today show Friday to plug her new show 'Kate Plus 8,' coming to TLC Sunday. She also talked about starting over after her divorce and explaining Jon's love life to their kids.

"2009 was one that I prefer to erase if I could," she said. "2010 was the marker for me that it was going to be a better year ... shambles, no more -- so far, we're in a good place."

Kate said that Jon has dropped his battle to seek custody of their children, but his behavior continues to make life difficult for their family.

"Jon's decisions remain Jon's decisions," she said when asked about Jon's new 23-year-old girlfriend, whom he has already introduced to the kids. "It's just for me to help the kids deal with it ... They ask me questions where his girlfriends are concerned, and it's just a situation that I have to deal with with them."

Is Kate ready to start dating?

"No," she said. "I don't feel like it's time. I feel my kids need so much of me that I need to be there for them. Personally, I don't feel ready to move forward."

If you were Kate what would you do? Talking about her children being brats because they whine alot. That doesn't mean that they are brats. I am not sure which one is which (twins) but one of the girls does pout alot. How many parents out there have such perfect children. No one is forced to watch or read about her, it is your choice.

LISTEN, I UNDERSTAND THAT NONE OF THIS IS THE KIDS FAULT ! But why in the world TLC continues to throw this show of what's now called: Kate +8 at us is just plain ridiculous. The kids are spoiled rotten brats, pouting and stomping off when the mother tries to correct them ! The "Bodyguard" Steve _____ appears giving TV interviews saying he thinks of "Kate as larger than Royals" that he's guarded." We all have to work to support our families, but this is sheer nonsense to continue claiming some sort of "wholesome family situation," here. The dad is doing God knows what, but is content to keep quiet, only to continue releasing questionable videos of his party life.

My question is: Why is The Learning Channel (TLC) supporting this nonsense !

Because TLC is the supreme exploiter and is just plain Evil (in my opinion). Eileen O'Neil is at the helm and is supremely Evil, too. I can't imagine a more twisted, evil person than her (expect those in prison who actually were prosecuted for exploiting children in a similar fashion).

The show should have been yanked off the air at the first hint of family discourse, but she has taken it and run with it....be damned those children.
I can't imagine a human being with even an ounce of a conscience even considering putting those children on the air in the midst of what the family was going through.
And it wasn't just the husband. All of Kate's family was being shunned by Kate.
One really has to wonder why. TL is sick and evil and is the epitome of what the Bible says about the love of money being a root of all kinds of evil.

"Well you see kids, mommy is an emasculating witch and daddy finally figured out that if he didn't leave I was going to put all three pieces of the set in a jar and he would never get to use them again. Then daddy started over compensating on what I had denied him for so long and that turned him into the dewsh that he is now. Do you kids understand all that"?

Kate, keep moving forward. No one wants a marriage to end. You are correct in thinking the children need you to parse yours and Jon's personal situations so they understand it doesn't change the love you have for the children.. Hope things work out for everyone.. Hope Jon grows up soon. The children need him to set an example as a dad.. Too bad TLC didn't do a better job in the editing room.. but then again that is what drew the audience share..

Yeah, that is a rumor. The bodyguard and his family all visit Kate and have been supportive.

NO wife would talk or want to be with her husbands mistress let alone host her in her home.

I watched their show twice before the breakup but her constant digs and downgrading of her husband made me lose interest real fast. I'm probably one of the very few who actually felt a bit sorry for him in all the ruckus. It seemed like this marriage had problems before they used in-vitro to produce a large multiple birth and I question their motives. Was the goal a big happy family or merely the promise of a reality show?

And now she complains that she has had to become a working mom? puh-leeze

I watched the show for a couple of years. Someone had to take charge to organize that many children. Jon was always wanting to undermine her organization yet he never stepped up to do it and always whinned. Not very manly.

That's baloney! That man worked his a** off while kate barked orders from her plastic chair perch, coffee (ahem....alcohol...*cough-cough*) cup in hand.
He hung shelves and racks in the garage, helped build an addition to the house, lay carpet, paint rooms, build an outdoor playset...oh...and actually (gasp!) PLAY with his own children!!
None of this, of course, met with kate's approval.
Especially his attempt at....brace yourself.....breathing!! He even got yelled at for that.
I saw the show where he cooked like a five-course authentic Korean meal in their home and all the witch did after climbing down off her broom was run around the kitchen b*tching at him the entire time. (they shows are catered btw, but she feigned stress over not being able to feed her children some grapes with crackers).
When they got dogs, she b*tched at the dog owner, when they got free solar panels at the new house, she b*tched at that show's host (he's never been back).
After all that b*tching...one can only conclude...she's just a b*tch.
If that's your entertainment and you call that talent....so be it.
I don't. I call it what it is...being a b*tch.

The children are not being expolited. Very little of their lives is shown and money is bnked for them. What about child stars. There are many on TV and nothing is said.

very little? which part do you consider "very little"....their half-naked bodies getting dressed or potty-training, or throwing temper-tantrums, or having poo pulled out from their behind by....daddy? very little.....as in mommy and daddy having loud, screaming meltdowns on national tv?
very little so that the girls had to make homemade signs to paste on their bedroom doors that read "No Cameras!!!" what child has to do that?
how many times has the one girl, maddie, stormed off camera or gotten mad because she's just trying to have fun and live her life and those d*********d cameras and mikes keep getting shoved in her face. No...not paparazzi...but TLC and Figure 8 cameras!!!
What little girl wants to be followed around by Grown Men shoving cameras in their face??? That's just CREEEEEEPY!!
Child stars are under strict guidelines....KNOW they are "acting" and are not being filmed in real life going to the bathroom or changing clothes.
This kids were filmed in violation of their state labor laws and TLC finally admitted it.

The children are exploited in the worst way possible. They have no clue and will be horrified when they find out how their parents sold them out. Very Sad!
