I'll take one with any network other than AT&T

Steve is not looking good at all, and this phone (from first impressions) lacks any real innovation - it's just a minor upgrade from the 3GS (mostly firmware/OS upgrade, really).

He looks worse than he did before his transplant.

The most prominent things to mention:
1) thinnest iPhone ever, 9.3 mm
2) High res screen
3) Better OS with multitasking
4) camera with flash
5) similar to ipad, compare yourself.

Any Apple experts out there? I have a question...

I just got an 3g iphone last week. Is it better to keep the one I have (I'm in my 30 days but am subject to restocking fee) or exchange it for the new 4G model?

(I didn't realize that it was going to come out so soon -- however, I still was able to get the $30 unlimited plan.)

Thanks.

I would absolutely exchange it.

I'd exchange it too.

I have a 3GS and will likely upgrade to OS 4.0, or wait until my AT&T plan ends and go back to T-Mobile since AT&T increasingly sucks but I digress, but do get 4G if you do a lot of network speed-intensive activities.

Well, this looks like the prototype that was lost. iPhone fanatics swore that it couldn't be an iPhone because it was too ugly. Then when it was known to be legitimate, they said that a lot of changes would be done before it was released. I'm not seeing the changes. Now I wonder how many of those Fanboys will bellyup to the Apple counter and swear that it is the most beautiful thing that they've ever seen.

Looks like a thinner version of the phones Nokia and SE have been making for years. I really don't understand how it fits in with the rest of their design language

It doesn't - at all. Neither does that price point. With how quick it's been since the 3GS launch, I have to wonder if this was forced out - it doesn't seem to line up at all with Apple's products and actions for the last 5 or 6 years.

It's still ugly and not the usual Apple quality in terms of the slick looks.

The 2009 Mac Pro case is impossible to beat, but that's another story.

Other than not being on a 4g network, there're some bad facets here. First, a phone that is too thin isn't good, much like how cell phones got too small to reach your mouth. Secondly, look at all that lost real estate on the screen still. About 30% of the screen still is black. Nothing amazing here. The evo 4g destroys this phone and its already out.

Cool, does the evo 4g do video chatting as well?
09:00 PM on 06/08/2010
yes, the evo 4g does video chat.

and Sprint has a real 4g network, which AT&T does not, and will not this year.

The iPhone 4g is really a 3G phone. That's why Steve did the video chat over Wi-Fi, not over the cell network

hmmm.... iPhone4-to-iPhone4 only WiFi Video calls.

In my opinion it's not exactly an "innovation" I've been able to video call from my mobile for nearly 7 years! to any other phone over 3g network!

Also liked how he had to order everyone to shut off all wireless devices in the hall for it to work between 2 devices!!

Thin to an Apple product is not necessarily a good thing.

The thinner the device, the thinner the battery. Have you ever heard of anyone with an iPhone brag about their battery life?

They actually reworked the motherboard, shaving 2/3 of its size so that they could include a bigger battery. But I agree. Not to mention - how can a 6'2" guy with man hands hold the thing comfortably?

Is this new phone the big one behind Jobs or the teeny one that he has to stick his tongue out for to get it to work?

Still, it's nice to know that it works like every other phone...intermittently....
