Oil Spill Damage In Texas: Dead, Oiled Birds Found

Bp Oil Spill Birds

06/ 7/10 12:45 AM ET   AP

ROBERT, La. — Federal authorities responding to the massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill say dead birds with oil on them have been reported for the first time in Texas.

A wildlife report issued Sunday by the government command center in Robert, La., says that two dead birds with visible oil were found in Texas, along with at least 36 dead birds that didn't appear to have oil on them. The report did not say where in Texas the birds were found.

The previous day's wildlife report didn't list any dead birds in Texas.

Officials at the command center could not immediately comment on the numbers in the report late Sunday.

The worst oil spill in U.S. history has created an environmental crisis in the Gulf region. Millions of gallons of oil have spilled since the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded 50 miles off the coast of Louisiana on April 20, killing 11 workers.

"two dead birds with visible oil were found in Texas, along with at least 36 dead birds that didn't appear to have oil on them. "

Oh come on, dummericans - did the check their STOMACHS? Dead birds are not unusual, so why comment on them unless they think they are from oil.....

This disaster is now Obama's fault.

No I don't think he should step into a phone booth, put on his cape, and swim down and punch the pipe closed.

But what he is allowing is just showing what power big oil has and what he is letting happen.

Right now the coast guard is HELPING BP with a media blackout. Yes BP has armed guards out there blocking the press and cameras from showing what is REALLY going on and how bad things really are. He is letting that happen.

This is OUR country that is being destroyed by this disaster. Why should BRITISH petroleum be dictating who can and cannot take pictures of our country being poisoned? Why aren't the media allowed? Why is Obama letting them get away with it?

If he was serious about this he would have OUR national guard go down there, tell these BP guards to GET OUT of the way or be arrested. Then he would send a flotilla of media boats festooned with cameras to show what these rats are up to and what they have done.

As much as it pains me to write this, I agree with you totally.

I feel like shouting out to the birds and all the creatures of the Gulf who are struggling to survive this completely unacceptable situation: "I am so sorry for the human animal's stupidity."

And if I were president, I'd be out there in these neglected rookeries, capturing oiled pelicans and seagulls and calling up all volunteers to join me.

You looking to panic the population?? Cause that'd probably be what would happen if the media reported the more bleak outlooks and projections that have certainly been circulating such high positions as the presidency... but hey, yeah, Obama could be a bit more reactionary, but why should we expect him to?

He's beholden to the corporate kings as we're all begining to understand -- so why wouldn't he drag feet when it comes to disaster in the Gulf?

Why wouldn't he, like most Americans before the spill, have "trusted" BP? Why wouldn't he have trusted a privatized response? After all, all patriotic Americans "know" that privatization is best -- that business has a better answer -- that government cannot do anything?

So, why all the outrage when this president has done little more than adopt the attitude of the average American pre-spill?

King Goodhair of Texas claims that BP oil gusher(s) devastation is an "act of God."

Actually, he's got an election coming up and he needs more money.

Isn't it nice that these pseudo Christians have God to blame for having their greedy little hands in the pockets of big oil?

Pseudo-Christians is a very apt term for people such as Rick Perry. I often wonder if God would consider the creation of humankind as HIS/HER greatest mistake.
