The Wolves of Willoughby Chase by Joan Aiken should be read by every 9 or 10 year old, boys or girls :) Also The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin

When I was twelve, I wandered into the adult fiction section of the library and found books by Taylor Caldwell and never looked back.

Another bad headline. There is no reason anyone would need to be strong, adventurous, or smart to read any of these books.

I was reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance at that age. It had a Pink cover, girls, if that is of any help!
