Wooden Bike

treehugger.com:

So why would riding a wooden bike from Renovo or even Organic Bikes save a tree? Wheeler says it's due to the fact that mining is tied in many cases to clear-cutting, and he gives the example of the Grande Carajas project in Brazil.

I can't see how this frame would stand the test of time compared to an steel, carbon fiber, of aluminum frame.

It would take an in depth carbon audit for me to believe a wooden bicycle frame by Renovo is "friendlier" than say a steel frame by Specialized.

As a work of art the Renovo frame wins.

I am skeptical of the frame strength at the head tube in the Renovo too.

Yes, Virginia, there really is a treehugger.com!
Single mothers working 12 hours a day at minimum wage can now sneak on their employer's computer, and learn how green it is a wooden bike, dreamed of by purist mighty mites and sallow, scampering termites. A chance for mom to shed her pains, forget own child's broken dreams, and bask in Gorean visions of travel blessed by social schemes.

Shouldn't people have the freedom to pursue the value systems that maximize their subjective perceptions of happiness? Isn't this in accordance with the First Amendment and the work of conservative luminaries such as Milton Friedman?

I think that we just at least tolerate if not admire those individuals who value what they believe to be a more harmonious relationship with the natural world. Who are we to pass judgment on anybody else's alternative formulation of the so-called American Dream?
