This article hides a dark secret in the modern Chinese society. Many of the parents and grandparents paying for these camps belong to "the lost generation", where young adults were sent out as farmers by the orders of Mao, so they could learn how to be humble.

Now they are the parents. They simply don't understand what the computer means in a modern globalized world. They were learned to be afraid of the big ugly world outside China and they are ready as any parent to jump to the nearest solution to protect their child from what they misguided believe that is evil.

As we know it here from the states a lot of programs appear with an answer to the problems of parenting. Many programs which in fact endanger the children rather than helping them.

Just last year several died. Internet addiction disorder as it is called is not even a recognized illness listed in the DSM. There is no prescribed cure. Boot camps and electroshock have been tried. We are talking testing only. Today we all know that lobotomy was a mistake. The methods used in China is our times lobotomy treatment of Internet addiction disorder.

The government in China is slowly outlawing treatment method as they appear whenever a child dies.

But how many needs to die before a safe treatment can be found if it is an illness at all?

We at the Danish NGO "Secret Prisons for Teens" will continue to monitor this area.

The nation of China is the world's largest unregulated corporation, it's citizens are nothing more the corporate employees with no rights and no vote.

The leaders of China are nothing more than corporate board members dictating policy to the people below them.

China is now the most polluted nation on earth with 2/3 of it's rivers heavily polluted with factory and agribusiness chemicals as well as eroding soil from poor agribusiness farming practices.

These rivers, for the most part, are now devoid of life.

Animal and human sewage as well as sythetic fertilizer usage which is draining or being dumped into China's rivers is now creating large and deadly algae blooms off the coast of China. This is killing river and coastal fish and marine life on a massive scale. This is also happening in the U.S.

China's rivers and river deltas are also now being dried up and stagnated by over 25,000 large dams built to generate electricity for all this manufacturing.

In many cities in China people must wear face masks when they go outside to prevent their sinuses, lungs and throats from being burned by the filthy factory/coal polluted air.

Most of the world's manufacturing is now done in China.

The Chinese governement/banks/corporations are now moving into 2nd and 3rd world countries to exploit their land, water and people in an attempt to stave off the collapse of China's eco-systems and economy.

60 year old chain smokers or not, you can't keep 14 people at bay with only one guard.

I wonder how many dimwits will blame this on Apple's relationship with FoxConn. LOL.

I wonder how many dimwits will read this article, and then make unnecessarily derisive comments that are completely unrelated to the topic at hand.

“One mother wept at the police station when she described how her son once spent 28 consecutive hours playing online games.”
Maybe some entrepreneur will come up with a remedial gaming chair. One that delivers an ever increasing, though never lethal, electric shock. Each time the player crashes/gets shot/ loses/etcetera.
