Subway Station Booths Must Be Reopened, Workers Rehired: Judge

MTA Station Booths Must Reopen, Rules Judge

A judge has ordered that the 42 station booths closed by the MTA in May be reopened and restaffed with station agents.

Some 266 workers were laid off due to the station booth closings which came into effect after severe budget cuts were implemented by the MTA.

Transit workers protested in early May when the first of the cuts took place, saying that decreased station agent presence would lead to an increase in crime and fare-evasion.
