Walton Family To Bankroll 21c Hotel In Native Bentonville, Arkansas

If you build it, will they come? The Walton Family, of Walmart fame and fortune, are planning on bankrolling a 21C Museum Hotel, the fourth property for the chain, in their native (and Walmart headquarters of) Bentonville, Arkansas, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The hotel has outposts in Louisville, Cincinnati and Austin, so it's safe to say that the hotel chain has a knack for planting themselves in less obvious markets. The 30-room hotel will cost roughly $28 million to build.

The Waltons have already invested $317 million in building the Crystal Bridges Museum, a 100,000 square foot space on a 100-acre plot which will showcase, among other pieces, their notable American art collection (there are no direct ties between the Museum and the Waltons, only the Walton Family Foundation). With this move, it seems the family is going all in with the town, which lies over 200 miles away from Little Rock.
