Sharron Angle Appeared In Scientology Prisoner Rehabilitation Video

Sharron Angle Nevada Scientology

Sharron Angle, whose come-from-behind victory in the Nevada Republican primary has catapulted the the Tea Party candidate into the national spotlight, immediately came under fire for her controversial views.

And now a new video showing Angle offering her support for a controversial inmate rehabilitation program administered by the Church of Scientology has come to light.

This is not the first time that Angle has been attacked for her ties to the Second Chance program, which is a detoxification and rehabilitation program for drug-addicted prisoners. She proposed a bill, which was defeated, to implement the program in the Nevada prison system in 2003. Last month, her primary opponent, Sue Lowden, attacked her over the proposal, which a Lowden campaign ad implied would pamper prisoners.

Here is what Angle had to say on camera:

These men are actually taking a hold of their future and taking control of themselves and saying, 'No. This is something that I caused for myself. This is the point at which I began to travel down the wrong road and this is where it led. And now, I'm going go back, and I'm going to fix that. And I'm not only going to fix that for myself, I'm going to fix that for my family.

WATCH the promotional video for the program. Angle can be seen at the 6:30 mark:

When you can't win on the issues then, smear, smear, smear. This is going to be SOP for the Left in 2010.

The election of Sharon Angle has nothing to do with Scientology. If her platform appeals to you, vote for her.
For everyone curious about a program that attempts to handle something most US prisons have given up on, this program not only worked in Ensenada. The Scientology approach to rehabilitation has also worked in the US and in many other countries. Check out:

http://www.criminon.org/

Particulars can be found in this study:

http://www.criminon.org/studies/urban_institute_phase1.pdf

And there are many other sources of factual data (Some internuts claim Scientologists worship cats or aliens or whatever. Give me a break.) Posters who go livid at the idea of someone attempting to help another human being are only trying to obstruct. The validity of Scientology is no longer in question. If you haven’t found that out yet, speak to a Scientologist or visit

http://www.scientology.org
http://www.designerphilosophy.com

or any of the thousands of sites that don’t try to twist and corrupt a simple applied religious philosophy. Philosophy has made a comeback for the 21st century. It's called Scientology.

Scientology is considered a cult. They were identified as a cult by the Cult Awareness Network before the church bought it out and took their name off the list...

Her support of their programs is like supporting a cult. Obviously you must be a scientologist or just unaware of their history. Visiting their website means nothing. I suggest going to the following site (Operation Clambake):

Sharon Angle is a whack job. Anybody who aligns themselves with Scientology is just plain crazy. Sharon Angle cosponsored a bill that would use public money to give massages to prisoners. That's government waste at its worst. Sharon Angle twice voted for pay raises for herself. This disclosure was put out there by fellow Republican Sue Lowden so it must be true. Sharon Angle is a closet Scientologist. Sharon Angle wants to eliminate Social Security. Only one small faction of the Tea Party actually endorses her candidacy. Another faction supported Tarkanian and the General Tea Party doesn't endorse candidates at all.

Sharon Angle supports a program that actually rehabilitates inmates and gets them out of the endless cycle of leaving and returning to prison over and over. Good for her!
Who cares if it's a Jewish, Morman, Catholic, atheist or Scientologist as long as it WORKS and gets inmates to go back into society and to be productive.
So, good for her for speaking up about the Second Chance Program and by doing so helping to get criminals TRULY rehabilitated and off of the $80,000 tax payer dole that it takes to keep an inmate housed and fed.
10:35 PM on 06/11/2010
Sharron Angle never proposed legislation on the Second Chance Program. Scientology is not part of the program. For the facts, see: http://moveonreid.wordpress.com/2010/06/11/sharron-angle-and-the-facts-on-the-alleged-scientology-program/.

Not quite sure, but L Ron Hubbard's Scientology is not a Christian religion is it? It's some kind of cult?
06:12 PM on 06/11/2010
No, in fact, you learn in the deeper levels that Jesus was allegedly a hologram impanted by the galactic overlord Xenu. Indeed, it's the only "religion" that references the ancient religions and expressly calls them bogus. Of course, when they are recruiting new targets, they tell you with a staight face that it is perfectly compatible with Christianity. They outright lie to obtain "fresh meat." So much info is out in the wild, I recommend wikipedia "fair game"

Amazing. She obviously did much more than merely vote for this expensive and meaningless program, she actively advocated for the Church of Scientology in this respect. The program itself is patently bogus. Hubbard, who created the "purification rundown," had no medical training and lied to everyone about his credentials. No meaningful study has ever supported its efficacy. It's simply one of the COS countless efforts to influence politicians to funnel our tax dollars into their tax exempt coffers. A parasite in every sense.

And Harry Reid is a Mormon so?? Does he believe the garden of eden is in Missouri?
11:18 AM on 06/11/2010
Scientology is hardly a religion, it operates more like a business and has no tax-exempt status in numerous European nations. It has come under fire in the European Union for invasion of privacy and fraud, is being investigated by the Australian Parliament, and even Canada has members of Parliament accusing it of crimes. No one cares about the beliefs of the organization, it is the many illegal and immoral actions it has conducted that bring about this ire.

Considering the fact that the poll you're referring to is a RASMUSSEN poll, and that the election is 6 months away, I'd suggest that you might want to wait a bit before singing for Harry.

I have a feeling that this is going to be another Sarah Palin moment in election history: When the voters were introduced to Sarah, her numbers skyrocketed! Yet over the months, as the voters got to know a little more about Sarah, her numbers began to plummet; and by the time of the election, even some of the most distinguished party loyalists were jumping ship to vote for the other guys to make sure Sarah didn't get in. John McCain may have been willing to put her a heartbeat away from the White House, but the true conservatives and moderate Republicans who loved our country more than their party, didn't want to take that chance.

And they're not going to take the chance on Sharron Angle either!

Is the author ridiculing this woman because he believes she is somehow affiliated with Scientology? It seems like a fairly innocuous program designed to help inmates take charge of their lives and get off drugs. Is that so insidious?
11:22 AM on 06/11/2010
Second Chance is hardly "innocuous". The true purpose is to generate positive PR for Scientology, attempt to create legitimacy for the pseudo-science ideas of L Ron Hubbard, and recruit people into the cult of Scientology.

Second Chance has been revealed as a massive con (and operates under the name Narconon outside of prison, not to be confused with the legitimate Narcanon) in multiple states such as New Mexico and California, including charges of fraud and failure to pay fees.

They take TAXPAYER money and funnel it into the mother organization, because all Second Chance does is make people overdose on niacin, spend hours in a sauna, and then run a lot. All while they undergo indoctrination and brain washing with Scientology-based "courses".

Do the research for yourself, Google "Second Chance".

Fair enough... If that was the author's concern, then he might have mentioned it though. Poorly written article.

Steelgator, are you a Scientologist, or are you really that unfamiliar with who they are and what they do and believe? Spend some time at www.xenu.net and learn the truth.
03:43 PM on 06/11/2010
I am not a Scientologist, nor have I ever been one. I don't assume that everything they touch is automatically corrupted though. I may not agree with their beliefs, but there are also decent people who happen to believe their stuff.
