Paul Pierce enjoyed a productive night on Thursday, leading the Celtics with 19 points as they beat the Lakers in Boston to even the NBA Finals at two games apiece. Late in the first quarter, however, he was central to a bizarre sequence when he accidentally hit a referee in the face.
Pierce was celebrating under the basket and thrusted his fist into the air -- but his flying hand hit ref Eddie Rush square in the face. As the AP noted, "It's the first recorded case in NBA finals history of someone trying to punch the air -- and missing." Scroll down to watch the play.
