Rick Barber Is The Latest Alabama Candidate To Become A YouTube Lunatic (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/14/10 01:49 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:45 PM ET

Looks like we may have mourned the end of crazy Alabama political YouTube ads prematurely! In a late, great entry in the genre, here's Rick Barber -- who recently held on in the GOP primary in Alabama's second district to force establishment candidate Martha Roby into a runoff -- with a new spot in which he summons the poltergeists of Sam Adams and George Washington and Benjamin Franklin to shout at them in a drunken rant about an armed insurrection against the Internal Revenue Service.

WATCH:

Yes! Talkin' sedition with the Founding Fathers! It doesn't get any better than that.

"Is it worth digging into the substance here?" asks Dave Weigel, who makes a spirited attempt to do just that. But for all intents and purposes, what Barber is doing is railing against modernity itself, working himself into a fantasia of bellicosity.

Anyway, in the next scene of the story, we'll have a terrified George Washington exclaiming: "WTF, dude?! Why didn't you tell us that they have Hellfire missiles, mounted on robot planes, capable of cutting a man in half from 30,000 feet in the air? You do know that we are armed with muskets, right?"

If he hates the government so much, why does he want to become a part of it?

Don't worry about it. I'm sure most of us realize that not everybody in Alabama is an ignorant, disgruntled little elf with a penchant for talking treason.

to the defenders of these confederate like clowns ....let's see..there is no rational defense..only a childish one..i mean with the 3 cornered hatts..vimme a break....so..first... there is a great hot dog in chicago....they bill it as Kosher style..you know...all beef but that is where the similarities end...it is the same with these circus clowns..these masked ball costume wearing hacks have nothing of any kind to our founders..all they are are a bunch of spoiled kiddies who yearn for the days where they can own a few slaves maybe and run around with their tea bag thingys danglin freely and singin and swangin' in the air and also play touchy feely with their muskats and their buddies muskats...they probably never got one of those bags of plastic soldiers as a kid and now want to make up for lost time and what they missed out on.....
by the way the bed bath and beyound WHITE sale is this weekend and Sheets are 2 for the price of 1 in case any of the confederate wannabees want to stock up for the next cross burnin'. and civil war re-enactmentt.....

For those of you who support a violent attempt to overthrow our Government as opposed to using the ballot, I refer you to the story on HP covering the violence in Krgystan (sp). Are you ready to kill or be killed for an ideology or political cause. Are you ready to see your loved ones and other Americans running terrified in the face of flying bullets and marauding hordes? How would you identify the enemy?

I am a registered independent, agnostic, college educated married man with 2 young children. I have voted for both parties. I have worked in law enforcement, and voluntarily protected abortion clinics in Florida. That being said, I think this guy is great! I am so sick of you statist, elitist d-bags that I have grown.... no, been PUSHED to the right by your corruption of American values. Health care is something you get for WORKING. Not a one of you know anybody who has died from lack of insurance! If the bullets start flying, I know whose side I am on.
12:25 AM on 06/16/2010
Really? Whose side would you be on?
12:31 AM on 06/16/2010
I do know people who have been driven into poverty and homelessness from lack of health insurance. Also, when the bullets fly and you choose sides, how will you identify the enemy?

Considering he labels himself as law enforcement, I'd say the bullets will be coming from HIS side..

Talking about the IRS as a perpetrated evil while showing a hand moving toward a gun on the table - that's not suggesting violence, is it?

Now let me get this straight..you have Rick that talks to dead Presidents,,,,,you have Paul that is a fake Doctor and thinks he is MLK....you have Sharron that thinks flouride is a Communist plot...you have Sarah who thinks she will have a meeting with Thatcher(who is in late stages of alzheimers)to discuss the RIght Conservative Agenda....and then you add Beck for good measure. America does not need to fear Terrorists from abroad....if any of these actually gets anywhere near the Presidency Bin Laden can retire to Tahiti....because America will destroy itself....it is really not that funny if you think about it....

I know Rick Barber personally he is a ex-marine and has earned the right. First for you idiots that say he wanting a armed revolution.....list to the ad again he voicing the need for chance. He pointing out that we the people are suppose to govern themselves. The points he's using show that our government isn't allowing people to make decisions for themselves. The new health care bill will make it a mandatory to have health insurance or pay $2600.00 per year penalty. By the way most big companies are looking at stopping to provide insurance to most employees. For you you may need someone making life decisions for you....personal I'd rather provide for myself. Provide for myself and have government do what our founding father planned for it to do. Protect this country from people like "our President" most of the democrats in Congress and Senate. The ones that really want to be Kings, Dukes.........As a small business own I pay for more than my share of taxes. I don't need the government forcing me to pay for other peoples insurance, kids, drug habits, child care, housing, food, education, bad debt. I employ over a 100 people. Obama Care will force me to cut to under 50. The 57 that get terminated can thank "their President". The founding fathers were Christians that meant for everyone to provide for themselves "no entitlements"
07:41 PM on 06/15/2010
Sir, I find the way that he says that he would impeach the President without providing any grounds for such action highly dishonorable and his shouting beneath the dignity of any candidate for the United States Congress.

Where do you get this stuff? Suck it out of your thumb? Yes there is a mandate, but there is also absolutely NO provision in bill to criminalize not paying the penalty--in fact no provision for enforcement at all.
RE this statement: "The founding fathers were Christians that meant for everyone to provide for themselves "no entitlements" "
Not only were they NOT all Christians--there were aetheists and Deists among the founding fathers--but in any case to extrapolate from your inaccurate claim the conclusion of "every man for himself" is a total crock....no matter how many were Christians, it implies no such thing.
So those of us who heard in the ad what we did in fact hear are idiots? I take it you haven't listened to the ad yourself....ya might wanna do that before calling names.

Bill,

From one business owner to another, I know your post is not factual. You are entitled to your own opinion, but NOT your own facts.
This is what the true problem in America is, many refuse to address the issues. If you want to have a conversation on the facts, great, I may even be able to help you get past all of the misinformation out there. But until you deal in truth, you just look foolish, particularly here where most of the members are well informed.
So do you really want to have a conversation, or did you join just to spout inane talking points?
