Laurie David: Al Gore Affair Story Is 'Completely Untrue'

Laurie David told the Huffington Post on Tuesday that a tabloid report that she is having an affair with Al Gore is an absolute lie.

"The story is completely untrue," David told Huffington Post. "It's a total fabrication. I adore both Al and Tipper. I look at them both as family. And I have happily been in a serious relationship since my divorce."

Laurie and Larry David split in 2007.

Meanwhile a source close to the Gore family told Huffington Post, "Al and Tipper are still very close and spending together time this summer with their family."

As long as they leave the children and animals alone, who people have sex with is none of anyone's business--unless they have publicly stated opinions which later seem hypocritical or untrue. Gore hasn't been much of a moralist in his career and was with Tipper for many many years. I don't care who he bonks.

Why deny. Neither hold elective office, no-one is due any explanation for their behavior. If I was them I'd ignore it.

With all that is going on in the world, why anyone would care is beyond me.

I honestly dont believe this trash reporting. But after 40 years, anything is possible for either one and it does not change my admiration for who he is and what he has accomplished.

Lots of couples divorce and there is no affair. Why is everyone so cynical? I divorced my husband because he was an a-hole. Plain and simple. Just because L.D. denied they had an affair really means they did? Even if it is true, he has just as much a right to happiness as any of you here reading and posting today. Where's the scandal? He and his wife are divorcing-they each have the right to do as they please.

Ask Carol Burnett about her experience suing the National Enquirer. It took years, millions of dollars and repeated attempts by the NE to settle with her. She said she didn't care what it took, she'd beat them and make them take back their statements that she was drunk in public. She did it, but she HAD the money for the lawyers. They can wait out just about anybody, which is why they lie.

Once upon a time in America frivolous law suits were frowned upon. Perhaps this group belongs to traditional thoughts on such things. Besides, none of them spilled coffee in their own lap...what would they sue for? They are all public figures, and tabloids have wide latitude in trash dissemination.

Too hard, too expensive, takes years. There's no way the ordinary person can sue a tabloid. They've got the big bucks, the lawyers, the time. Even celebrities sometimes can't pay lawyers as much as it would cost for years of litigation.
