Michelle Obama In LA: First Lady Hits The Town

Angeleno For The Day: Michelle Obama Hits The Town

Update:

Even though Dad wasn't there to share the Lakers win with Sasha and Malia, the girls found a way to remember him by buying Obama his very own Lakers jersey at the game. When AEG president Tim Leiweke found out that the First Daughters wanted to give their dad a jersey for Fathers Day, he ran to the Staples Center shop in the stadium to have one especially made. After the game, Phil Jackson signed the swag. Thanks to TMZ for the tip!

As the LA Times notes, Michelle Obama's private family vacation has turned very public as Angelenos track her every move on Twitter.

Previous Post:

First Lady Michelle Obama is in Los Angeles and taking the town by storm, popping up at Hollywood restaurants Lucques and Osteria Mozza, and reportedly attending tonight's Lakers game at the Staple's Center.

She came into town on Sunday evening after a day spent at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, thanking the troops for their service in Afghanistan. From there it was on to Hollywood with her daughters Sasha and Malia, where the family was spotted at LA culinary mecca Lucques. Obama Foodorama blog notes that while we don't know exactly what the First Lady ordered, we have a pretty good idea what the table enjoyed because of Chef Suzanne Goin's fixed menu Sunday suppers:

Last night's dinner was $45 per person, and the menu included an appetizer of apricots and prosciutto with burrata, roasted dates, cardamom and marcona almonds; a choice of either market fish with sweet corn and fresh garbanzos, with lamb's quarters and chili-cumin butter or slow-roasted Colorado lamb over fava tartine with preserved lemon, black olives and purslane salad. Dessert sounds delicious: Bing cherry clafoutis with creme fraiche and hazelnut praline ice cream.

The next day the First Lady was spotted with her huge security entourage (CHP motorcycle cops, a CHP patrol car, and four SUVs) at Chef Mario Batali and Chef Nancy Silverton's Osteria Mozza by TMZ:

One major hint someone big was inside -- when Ryan walked out (about an hour before Michelle) and all the security stayed behind. Not many people in town bigger than Seacrest. Plus, Ryan pointed our camera toward the restaurant and said "there is a bigger story than me right now, trust me!"

Michelle Obama's plans for the rest of the day? Sports by Brooks reports that Michelle will be going to see Game 6 of the Lakers vs. Celtics at the Staple Center tonight. Brooks notes:

Ironic when you consider Dad is a major baller and won't join them. (He's quite occupied at the time.)
