It's Thinner
1 of 10
The iPhone 4 is nearly 25% thinner than the iPhone 3GS, which measures 0.48 inch. At 0.37 inch, the trim iPhone 4 is "so thin it's almost mind-boggling," as Engadget has said.

My new iPhone 4 earpiece is not working properly. The volume is VERY low and it won't increase. I am able to bypass the broken earpiece speaker with a bluetooth headset. It should work shouldn't it. I tried going in to replace the phone and was told the earliest that could happen is the weekend.

Don't people get it yet that Apple is getting PAID by AT+T and making huge profits from this deal?! Apple has gone from being a true innovator in the early days to a master manipulator of Steve's zombie army of "sophisticated elite" consumers. Why allow you to watch free flash content when the zombies will PAY for apps. Why release all the new features at once, when you can parcel them out one by one knowing the zombies will throw away their old one to stand in line to buy the new one (coming soon - an iPad that prints! Then one that multi-tasks! Then one with a camera!) AT+T is simply paying Apple to force Steve's zombie army to use their crappy service, we'll see if the talk of the iPhone being available with other providers actually happens, or if it's a PR rumor to sell more iPhones.

iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone. iPhone.
Wooo!
iPhone iPhone!
iPHONE!!!!

It's. Just. A. Phone.

Don't say it's a computer, because it isn't. Its a gaming device with a built in phone and a nifty web browser. Oh, and it's an mp3 player too. But it IS NOT a computer.

And for what it's worth, it really ain't much better than those that came before. It's thinner! Woooo! Yawn. Powerful, hooray! Snore. It does look good, but in 12 months, there'll be one that looks better and is just about as useful as the one you bought 3 years ago. Phones never used to be disposable devices. What gives?

"Connected to a Network. That. Doesn't. Work."

Why did Apple finally enable 'multi-tasking'?

Because they needed it to run iAd.

RAM has been doubled, too -- 512, up from 256.

I am just shocked. After AT&T defrauded millions of customers by falsely stating that it could provide reliable cellular telephone coverage...Apple is still giving them the iPhone contract? Surely Apple could make more with a provider that can actually provide reliable coverage. What gives? I am just about to escape my AT&T contract and cannot wait to use my iPhone on a reliable network.

Did you ever think that the problem is with your hardware not the service provider?

Of course not.

I have an HTC phone on the AT&T network and don't have any coverage problems, even in NYC.

I'm on my second iPhone, so if it's a hardware problem I would have to say it is endemic to the iPhone. Is that possible? If it's a hardware problem it's also very geographically sensitive. For example, I can **almost never** obtain coverage in midtown west within 10-15 blocks of Times Square. Often if a call does go through only one person will be able to here. (A friend explained that this is because AT&T has literally completely max'd out its circuits and it doesn't have the bandwidth to let both people talk. But AT&T keeps signing up customers, showing them the map with the blue areas colored in and representing that it can provide coverage in those blue areas.) I cannot come up with any plausible explanation for why the reliability of the iPhone would go up and down as you went through different geographic areas.

I very much doubt it is a hardware problem -- particularly in light of the large number of references I have seen both talking to people and reading articles in the news.

When you call AT&T wireless, they literally have a list of stupid excuses they go through with you to try and explain why they can't provide coverage. "Maybe it's your SIM card" is up towards the top of the list. "Maybe your house is causing interference" was my personal favorite.

From a businessman's viewpoint the best is it's obsolete the second the customer walks out of the store with it.

Steve Jobs either needs to shave, or to let it grow out. This look just isn't working for him anymore, in my opinion.

I was driving down the off ramp of the freeway once... and I thought I saw Steve Jobs standing under the bridge... it wasn't him... but I did do a double take.

My son is in town visiting...he brought his new Droid phone. He got his in a 2-fer deal as part of a Verizon plan...$70 for two droids...that's $35 for a phone that's ten times better than the iPhone.

Google is King.

eher, I have to admit that iphone 4 is really a charming phone!
with the multitasking, two camera, chat facetime, App Folders for Sorting Apps
, iBooks, Game Center and take lovely pictures, with the iOS, nearly a match made in heaven!
And this article "New iPhone HD sdk to get 720p HD video recording"(located in: http://www.ifunia.com/iphone-column/new-iphone-hd-sdk-to-get-720p-hd-video-recording.html ) totally shocked me!
now can't wait to keep one, pre-order it! but maybe till July 14th can get it!

I'll wait until August for the Nokia N8. Better camera (12MP Wide Angle CarlZeiss optics with largest photosensor ever on phone plus Xenon Flash), HD 720p video with full editing and HDMI output, Dolby 5.1 sound with an FM transmitter for the car, USB on the go...so you can move files from all sorts of devices without a PC or MAC needed, Best Graphics chip in the market, loads of memory, an all Aluminum body, 2 way video calling as usual with Nokia, new software/OS and true multi-tasking. At less than 500 bucks without subsidy, it's much cheaper than iPhone 4. Plus, it has the only 5 band HSDPA in the market, so it works on either T-mobile 3G or AT&T 3G.

New features and all these pictures are meant to whip up NEW PHONE LUST. It's a great marketing technique. From some of these posts, it looks like it is working. :) My 3G is starting to look a little old, I'll admit.

I've done a little cartoon on the subject:

Hey, here is the best feature! It is manufactured in China! Just like every other high tech product... How on earth are we to keep our jobs if "our" companies won't use our workers?

It's corporate greed. These companies will whine all they can about how unions are forcing their hand, but it really has to do with making as much profit as possible. They're not interested in paying workers $10 an hour when they can get the same thing done and pay that Chinese worker $10 a day.

Are you kidding?
This has nothing to do with corporate greed, and everything to do with COST. Do you REALLY want to pay 5x the amount you already are for an iPhone? That's what you'd get if it were manufactured here.

Tech production goes to China, it's a no brainer
Tech support goes to India, another no brainer.

Why? Because the end user doesn't want to pay what it would REALLY cost to have these here. THAT is the bottom line. Sure, the corporate offices save a few $$, but they don't save THAT much by shipping them overseas, compared to having to deal with nonsense like this
