Jeb Bush Campaigns For Bill Brady In Illinois

Jeb Bush In Chicago Campaigning For Bill Brady

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is in Chicago today campaigning for Bill Brady--and Democrats are using his visit to slam the Republican gubernatorial candidate.

On Wednesday, Bush joined Brady at a fundraiser in Bloomington, where he praised Brady as someone who can fix the fiscally broken Illinois, the Associated Press reports.

Bush, the son of one ex-president and brother of another, now works as an advocate for education reform.

"Jeb helped Florida became a state of strength," Brady said Wednesday, according to the Pantagraph. "We have talked throughout the day about the problems we face in Illinois and I believe his insights will help us turn Illinois around."

Gov. Pat Quinn took Bush's visit as a chance to rip his opponent. The AP reports:

Quinn told reporters Wednesday that it was "insulting" to the people of Illinois for Brady to bring in a member of the Bush family to cheerlead for him.

Quinn says former President Bush ran the nation's economy "into the ground."

Quinn's running mate, Sheila Simon, also headed to Bloomington Wednesday. She joined other state democrats at rally called "Keep Bushonomics Out of Illinois" at Bloomington's Laborers' Local 362 Hall.

"We know we have to get our finances in order and we have to get our budget straightened out," Simon said. "But that is something that we will get accomplished. It takes time and commitment. But, Bushonomics isn't the way to go."

Brady and Bush appeared together at the City Club of Chicago Thursday morning.
