So that would make the spill gushing at a rate north of 23,800 barrels per day - or 6++ Exxon Valdezes to date.

We can transplant a heart,go to the moon, hybrid animals, but we cant cap on a oil leak. WE DEMAND ANSWERS

A little recovered; the vast majority is not, perhaps never will be. Witness the result of corporate greed.

FLOWIN’ IN THE GULF

How many roads must a man drive down, before you call him a man?
How many seas must a pelican sail, before she can sleep in clean sand?
Yes and how many times must oil be spilled, before it is forever banned?

Refrain:

The answer my friend, is flowin’ in the gulf,
The answer is flowing in the gulf.

Yes and how many years can an oil rig exist, before it fails you and me?
Yes and how many years can some people exist, in a world of dying seas?
Yes and how many many times can you turn your head, and pretend that you just don’t see?

(Refrain)

Yes and how many times must a man look up, before he can see a clear sky?
Yes and how many ears must one man have, before he can hear seabirds cry?
Yes and how many deaths will take till he knows, that too many creatures have died?

(Refrain)

what's the breakdown in gallons burned and gallons captured?
11:01 AM on 06/22/2010
they do not wish to stop the spill only to get as much oil as they can from the well. not that they could stop it cuz it is leaking from the seabed now anyway. werallphukt.

what about the poor workers on those ships and rigs over the blowout site?

remember when rachael maddow went out on the boat and had that quasi panic attack from the fumes out there, and that was at the edge of the slicks. all those ships and rigs are at ground zero, and the water one continuous slick for tens of miles around it, and the methane and other more toxic gases comning up ... it's got to be BAD out there.

what reason would they have to lie on the high side about the amount of oil they're collecting or burning off? the bigger the numbers, the bigger their indisputable liability.

I am in Miami, watching the world cup and at every break the BP commercial airs. BP has actually taken the accident and turned it into their new ad campaign which shows the American people how responsible they are and how much they CARE about us. They must be spending a fortune on the ads, prime time world cup space, over and over, the hypocrisy is putting me off watching WC its making me so angry.....

BP, Transocean & Halliburton have hired an army of lawyers, lobbyists and PR firms. They are trying to drown out our voices with slick PR campaigns and TV ads, in a desperate attempt to de-toxify their image.

We can't allow this dirty & destructive industry to bamboozle us any longer. Do not let them silence us. OUR time is now.

"Companies involved in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill are hiring a bevy of high-priced Washington lobbyists and consultants to help them weather the crisis, as investigations heat up and calls for policy changes intensify. BP, which has garnered the bulk of public attention and contempt for the spill, has assembled a formidable team of Democrats for its Washington lobbying, legal and public-relations offensive."

"The London-based energy conglomerate (BP) recently hired Anne Womack-Kolton, who was a press secretary for former vice president Richard B. Cheney, to head its U.S. public-relations shop."

Hows that trickle up working out?

BP is so evil, they wanted this to happen, because this is convenient for them. Lets all use oil until there is an accident and then talk about how bad it is.

1 million captured/burned off; 6 million spilled, more at 11:00, tune in!!!

"BP Plc said on Monday that its oil-capture systems at the massive Gulf of Mexico leak collected or burned off 23,290 barrels"

I don't find this hard to believe. But considering that 80,00 to 100,000 barrels a day are entering the Gulf, then we're still in deep trouble.

even deeper trouble considering there are no sand filters installed at the bottom of the well, as would be the case in a production well, making the flow a continuous liquid sand blaster steadily eroding away the metal and various cementings along the 13,000 feet of the well bore. the latest figures released show a 4000 psi drop from the bottom to the top of the bop, due to various restrictions inside of it. sooner of later the well casing supporting that bop is going to erode til the bop topples over and the flow bypasses the bop. then the flow doubles or triples, literally putting an exxon valdez of oil a day into the gulf. the oil bearing formation is composed of an extraordinarily high porosity sandstone, which accounts for the high volume of flow, but it also feeds an extraordinary amount of grit into the flow, and by the time the relief wells interesect the bore, the casing may be so eroded away the kill mud and cements will just leak into the surrounding strata, making the well unkillable.

eventually what WILL happen if the bottom kill fails, and all restrictions and blockages are eroded away, is a full velocity super high pressurse flow continuing until resevoir exaustion.

Absolutely correct.

There are four reservoirs interconnected, if one collapses they will all evacuate because sea water is heavier than crude oil and gas.

The result will be unimaginable.
