Miley Cyrus At MMVA's - With Justin Bieber (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/21/10 08:40 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:50 PM ET

Miley Cyrus proved she does sing live with her rendition of 'Party in the USA' at Canada's MuchMusic Video Awards Sunday night.

With a bandanna around her head Bret Michaels-style and a skimpy black outfit, Cyrus performed an occasionally off-key version of the song.

Tween bonus - Justin Bieber rode his bicycle out halfway through the song.

Hum? I wonder if she uses a Garden Ho.
No maybe a drill, or chainsaw.

No matter how questionable her outfits and behavior are, she's always sung live. She takes some heat for occasionally being off-key or having a rough like her performance on American Idol last year, but I respect the fact that she actually performs rather than fakes it via lip synching. And she's still a baby in terms of singing; her voice will probably fluctuate a bit longer. I really wish she'd spend more of her time working with a voice coach and less coming up with trashy clothes. I still wish she had parents who put more time and love into her life.

At least she sang live, rather than lip syncing and ripping off fans ala Brittney Spears. The bandanna looks good on her, it's very retro 1960's biker chic. Lada Gaga has been seen sporting one as well lately, so perhaps that is the latest fashion thing for the next week or so.

This child is just begging to be parented. But her parents are disturbingly irresponsible.

Honestly, I don't care if she lip synchs, auto-tunes, sings off-key, or sings better than the most well-known legends- without substance, her music is no more interesting than the rantings of Glenn Beck.

I agree. Teen fluff music is NOT actual artistry, like what The Beatles created, or actual talented singing, like Streisand or Josh Groban....it's entertainment, and it may be enjoyable to many, but it's not real music or art or talent, I'm sorry. It always cracks me up when I hear ppl like this proclaim how they're just "trying to be themselves"....hmmmnnn, no, you're trying to be what's popular and what will get you the most attention. Real artists don't care if what they do is popular, it's just WHO they are, whether you digg them or not. They're the ones with the 40 year careers.

Found! The omnipotent judge of artistry, talent and real music!

I like some music, I don't like some music...but my opinion is that, a single opinion. Guess I'm missing that level of arrogance that allows you to stand on that hallowed throne and pass judgment on who is and who isn't an artist. And sorry the bit about "Real artists don't care" is a load; they care. They may not change who or what they are, but don't kid yourself, they have the same human emotions as Miley, they care.

Ummm - near the end of the song she holds the mic up and yet her voice is still coming through the speakers . . . Maybe she just sounds off-key recorded as well. Not convinced this wasnt li-synced .

Interesting point, good eye; no mike, omnidirectional or otherwise, could have picked up that note. Nor did I notice a musical crew adequate to producing the background music. On the other hand, she did miss a few notes, so if it were pre-recorded, why wouldn't the studio have cleaned up those bits before using the tape? Mysteries abound, as is usual in production numbers. On the other other hand, if it's her own singing, from her own head or the play head, it does show that she can sing and has probably even had some voice training. One more observation: pre-recording has always been usual in this kind of production number simply because it would be physically and acoustically impossible for any singer, trained, talented or otherwise, to sing acceptably under those conditions.

It would sound completely obvious if she was dancing around, with the mic's fluctuating proximity as a result, for them to record it every note perfect. They cant be that dumb, even if I was working there I would have thought of that. ( I just did ) . They probably recorded her in studio, dancing around just a bit. Didnt autotune it too much to make it fit the occasion.

MILEY only sang this song for her clothing line -

oncert in Louisville, Kentucky) — was asked by a reporter which Jay-Z tune inspired the line in "Party." And, well, let's just say she answered his question honestly.

"I don't know, I didn't write the song, so I have no idea," she said. "Honestly, I picked that song because I needed something to go with my clothing line. I didn't write it [and] I didn't expect it to be popular, originally. It was just something that I wanted to do and I needed some songs and it turned out for the best."

She's correct, she didn't write "Party" (a songwriting team of Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly and Jessica Cornish did), but surely — as the rather dumbfounded reporter asked in his follow-up — she can agree with the song's sentiment. She's got to be a Jay-Z fan, right?

"I've never heard a Jay-Z song. I don't listen to pop music," Cyrus answered. "['Party in the U.S.A.'] is not even my style of music. I'm really blessed for it to have done as well as it has. Totally blessed. God has definitely put me in an amazing position with amazing people."

Miley Cyrus is not for you, baby boomers, or for you, gen X'ers. Yeah, she may not have the lasting cultural relevancy as the Beatles, but still...lay off. I'm sure everything you were listening to when you were a kid that you though was cool was equally obnoxious to grown ups.

First vid Ive ever watched of her. Panders to the kids. At her age it prob should. For the haters in this string Id say give the girl a break. So many artists that are Kid stars get kicked to the curb right about her age. Seems she is just trying her best to hang in there. I wouldn't hate on her for that.
