Raymond Domenech Shake Hand Video

French coach Raymond Domenech had anything but a pleasant World Cup. He was criticized by soccer legend Zinedine Zidane early on. He argued with his star striker during a crushing loss to Mexico, and the fiery coach sent his adversary home following the dispute.

Things only got worse from there. The France World Cup team refused to practice in protest of their teammate's dismissal, and the squad ultimately lost their final match to an underwhelming South African team.

How did Domenech handle the news? By refusing to shake his opposing coach's hand. When South Africa's coach, Carlos Alberto Parreira, approached the French leader, Domenech waved his finger and engaged in what can only be described as bizarre behavior. Scroll down for video.

Shame -shame -shame !
No other reason than a direct and personal insult to that french coach could have made this behaviour understandable. He made himself and his team and the nation he represents look small, weak and petty.

It's really ashamed for the France team in the history ever...being sent home at the first start in world cup 2010.

WORD CUP 2010 Review:

This World Cup 2010 has been really boring from the start.

Africa got it's first World Cup and the world are waiting the great South Africa Nation to show it's amazing cultural richness to the world, instead they showed Shakira dancing like a crazy Ostrich and singing like a Vuvuzela. Without a touch whoever produced it.

FIFA refusing to allow organizations to distribute condoms to general public like they where presided by Pope Benedict XVI. Only Israel's IDF and BP's Tony Hayward's has worse PR.

Europeans teams playing like engineers without creativity, Africans selling their soul to boring Europeans couches and the US bringing Donovan "again"? please. ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX are all ignoring the games. what a shame.

So far the only fun things to watch has been Maradona kissing his players and his terrible suit, Domenech and French team's tantrum and the Italians players behaving like porn stars looking at the cameras instead of the ball. By the way, who designed that ball?

Congratulations:
To Nelson Mandela. He is one of the greatest leaders of our time.
To South Korea and Japan for hardworking.
To Mexico and Honduras for hardworking.
To Portugal, the only European team fun to watch this time

Now, lets get real, it will be all South America finals:

Semifinals:
Argentina x Paraguay
Brazil x Chile

Final:
Argentina x Brazil

Watch out FIFA:
1st: Brazil (Champion)
2nd: Argentina (Huge chance of Uruguay get in here)
3rd: Paraguay
4th: Chile

I agree with your finals prediction... but not with the results. Brazil has yet to show up.

France were a mediocre team for many years. Once they were able to use French-born players from North African parents they improved greatly. Youths from immigrant families are treated like second class citizens in France, but if they can play the football, then they are OK. My point is that the French are losing their identity, their performance in SA proves it.

When the entire US Basketball team is black do you say that the Americans are losing their identity?
Do you know how the blacks are still treated in some US States?
BTW, there was no player from North African origin in the French selection at the WC!

What a petty, self-serving, sad little man.

According to the South African coach, Domenech refused to shake hands because of the disparaging comments the South African coach made about the controversial call in the Ireland v. France game that allowed France to enter the World Cup.

So what if that happened? Show some damn humility in defeat and respect the host nation. He's a representative of France on an international stage watched by billions. What Domenech did reflects poorly on his team and his country, and he should apologize for his antics.

You trash my team ...I will not shake your hand. Sounds logical to me.
Domenech is a bad coach but he is no doormat.

Hey, HP.

Where's the follow up on this story? I'd like to know why Domenech refused adult civility and what he was saying to coach Parreira of SA.

Ok, it's not very important in the grand scale of things. But it is one of the more interesting non-field stories in an already seemingly volatile World Cup.

Domenech accused South Africa's coach, Carlos Alberto, of saying that France did not deserve to be there that it was because of cheating that they made it in. Which, in my humble opinion, is true. France would not be there if Henry had not intentionaly handled the ball for the winning goal over Ireland. But he refused to shake his hand saying that Alberto had bad mouthed the French team. Alberto claims that he has never said anything and nothing has been published refuting that claim, yet.

Ah, thanks for the context.

In any case, very poor public display of sportsmanship.

This guy should have been the one sent home. Not Anelka!

This guy is just jealous that Parreira has won 2 World Cups and he's going home in utter disgrace.
I wonder how the Corsican Boys are going to react to this guy once he gets home.

Parreira won the WC once in 1994.
In 2006 his Brazilian team was eliminated by ...Domenech's French team.
