Plaza Hotel's iPads: Will They Kill The Need For A Concierge?

Plaza Hotel's iPads: Will They Kill The Need For A Concierge?

Starting in September, each room at New York's Plaza Hotel will have an iPad, according to Hotel Chatter.

The iPads will control your entire stay, from room service to wake-up calls, and will have newspaper services and destination guides for travelers. Plus, visitors will be able to download a Plaza app to their PDA's to make requests through their own devices (so why they are investing in iPads is up for debate).

It's an interesting tact for a hotel to take: put a computer in people's hands and people become irrelevant. Wonder if this will end up saving them salary money...
