Alexis Neiers:A harsh dose of reality for the reality star, who pleaded no contest to her involvement with the "bling ring", caught on tape taking $500k in property from Orlando Bloom's house. Neiers turned herself in this week to begin serving her 180 day jail sentence.

Antonio Villaraigosa:Details of the mayor's controversial acceptance of possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts continue to emerge this week, as a formal ethics inquiry got underway. The LA Weekly published a complete list of events Villaraigosa accepted tickets to, estimating the value to be in the range of $50,000 to $100,000. Meanwhile, KTLA unearthed the details of his $120,000 trip to Europe. While it is not clear that any laws were broken, this is not an issue that will go away quietly.

Sheriff Lee Baca:: An oversight study released this week found an alarming trend of drinking on duty in Baca's LA County Sheriff's Department. 33 Such incidents have been reported between January and May alone.

The Golden Globes:Reports surfacing this week that the Academy's board of governors was considering moving the Oscars to January shocked Hollywood this week. The Golden Globes, traditionally held weeks before the Oscars, would be particularly hard-hit by such a move, which would largely render the Globes irrelevant.
