'Horse Boy' On Google Street View Shrouded In Mystery (PHOTOS)

Huffington Post     First Posted: 06/28/10 11:03 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 05:55 PM ET

Google Street View frequently captures strange sights: people urinating in public, a pitchfork-wielding duo dressed in scuba gear, or even Waldo from "Where's Waldo?"

An enigmatic character, dubbed "Horse-Boy," has appeared on Google Street View in Aberdeen, Scotland, and has generated considerable buzz and speculation by Internet users the world over. The man can be seen standing against a wall in a purple shirt and brownish pants wearing a large horse mask.

The BBC writes, "Dozens of BBC news website users have e-mailed from across Europe to say they know who horse boy is." Some have even sent in photos of the mysterious "Horse-Boy."

One Huffington Post reader emailed to point out that "Horse-Boy" has his own YouTube channel, with videos showing "Horse-Boy" (aka "The Human Horse") dancing to Soulja Boy's "Crank That" and "The Birdie Song," among other clips.

UPDATE: HuffPost readers have sent in more Horse Boy sightings. See them below! Some have also offered what may be a clue at his identity: One reader tells us his name is "Colonel Riktimmy."

This is what John Edwards is doing now, because chicks dig it. His phrase "two Americas" rstill esonates, only now--it is only within the horse's snout.

Google street view have already came through my neighborhood, but i wish i would have known when they were going to do it. I would have gotten a more realistic looking horse mask and covered myself with fake blood, and holding a chainsaw while standing in the forest just off the highway. That would have scared the **** out of someone...which is a hobby of mine.

Who named this guy "Horse Boy"? I guess "Horse Older Gentleman With Decent Beer Gut" doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

That's no mask - that's the Lord Mare of Aberdeen.

I just lost a brain cell reading and watching this. Where's a Gaga video? I could probably lose two more brain cells.

Note to Huffington Post: Are you desperate for clicks? Short on revenue? Did you really need to run this story (and similar others) at the risk of losing some of the respect your readers want to have for their news source?

Go to Google Maps and type in "16 Hardgate, Aberdeen, United Kingdom" and there you will see Horse Boy himself on the righthand side of the road.

Yeahhhh? So? It's a guy wearing a horse mask. Standing on a road.

Now I can see if he appears in Google shots all over the place, like he mysteriously knows where the camera is going to be and when, that would be cool, but it's not. It's one picture..
