First Music Video Shot On An iPhone 4: High-Def Or Horrible?

Rock band The Anix has recorded what Dvice calls the first-ever HD music video using the iPhone 4.

The band began recording the video for their song "Enemy Eyes" "literally minutes after taking it [the iPhone] out of the box." Their goal, which they state on their website (TheAnix.com), "was to be the first band to shoot a music video, using the iphone 4 [sic]."

The iPhone 4 comes equipped with iMovie, which allows for basic video editing on the iPhone, but the band opted out and used a MacBook Pro to edit their footage. However, the iPhone 4 was the only video recording device used. Watch the video (below).

Ok then either "flakjakt" or "The Anix" are full of crap. They can't -both- have shot the first iPhone 4 music video. Here's flakjakt making their '1st' claim here - http://vimeo.com/12985622

Frankly it's meaningless to make this claim when the iPhone 4 was just a camera source. How is recording it on the iPhone 4 any more of an achievement than recording it on a Flip HD?

This kind of claim will actually mean something when they also edit the movie, add effects and mix the sound all on the iPhone 4, and then upload it via cellular network (or free coffee shop WiFi) to whatever servers or tv stations are going to distribute or air it, without any PC or other other personal data infrastructure involved.

Some amazing other firsts are coming out too.. of course, the Apple of my eye short film, and this first commercial shot entirely on iphone 4, where they mounted it to a steadicam, dolly, and even a remote control helicopter to get the shots: http://www.vimeo.com/12980073

top of the pops in the Dreadfully Boring Cliche Category...seriously people, the song is pathetic and been done at least 10,000 times since 1993, and just because this was shot on a phone it doesn't make it good or even acceptable...once again the general public falls for the hype machine BS and lowers the bar for what is good work....YAWN!!!!!! please stop promoting mediocrity...

Impressive video, although somewhat ironic in that it's posted here as a Flash video, which of course, cannot be viewed on an iPhone or an iPad.

Nevertheless, I'm impressed.

I quite enjoyed the video. I think the clarity was nice.

So, the iPhone 4 doesn't have a godawful camera? Amazing.

Fact is, they could have used any hundred-dollar Kodak from Best Buy to do this (professional lighting notwithstanding). That they used iMovie and Logic to actually do the editing work is only reasonable.

“Meh, there have been rumors about a Verizon iPhone release for years. Until either company makes an official announcement, it's just not happening. Period.

This is the Part I love the most to be able to come back and say...... I WAS RIGHT!!!!!

Except you're actually the opposite of that.

Still no Verizon iPhone, still no announcement from either company. Just a bunch of conjecture from people who have no idea what they're talking about.

But thanks for proving me right. Coincidentally, if either company actually does make an official announcement, I will also be proven right. Have fun.

The vid quality is great... for a phone. But, realistically why would you even think about filming a music video, let alone anything else of importance, on the iPhone 4. At least, from the looks of the video, you'll still need to create a professional light design just to make the product (what you are actually shooting) look good. Plus all the artifacts don't really help sell me on any other use than a convenient way to capture video.

Yeah but the beauty of it is not everyone has high end video cameras and with a little but of creativity someone can make a good quality video without a budget.

I imagine kids putting stuff together that can circumvent major labels lockdown on things due to cost alone.

"The iPhone 4 comes equipped with iMovie" no it doesn't you have to download it for 4.99.

True, but 4.99 for video editing software isn't such a bad deal.

Some edge tearing, a few moments of data overdrive resulting in pixelation, but otherwise really quite exceptional. The resolution is spectacular. Song doesn't do much for me though.
