Joe Scarborough: John Boehner 'Not The Hardest Worker,' Bar Hopper (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 06/30/10 12:46 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:55 PM ET

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said that Republicans on Capitol Hill tell him "all the time" that House Minority Leader John Boehner "is not the hardest worker in the world" and that by early evening he can be found hitting up the Washington bar scene.

"I hear it on the Hill, I'm sure you hear it on the Hill all the time, it's not reported, but so many Republicans tell me this is a guy that is not the hardest worker in the world," said Scarborough on Wednesday's edition of Morning Joe. "Every Republican I talk to says John Boehner, by 5 or 6 o'clock at night, you can see him at bars. He is not a hard worker."

Scarborough, who represented Florida's first district in congress from 1995 to 2001, said that the way he hears it, Boehner has a tendency to become "disengaged" and by comparison doesn't put in the work hours Newt Gingrich did when he was the ranking Republican in the House.

Boehner spokesman Michael Steel offered reaction to Scarborough's remarks in a statement e-mailed to Politico:

"Boehner grew up with 11 brothers and sisters, and his dad owned a bar, but the only time he's 'around town' these days is to raise money for our House Republican team. Thus far this year, he's headlined more than 230 events and raised about $27 million. And that's just the beginning."

Why am I NOT surprised by this so called revelation about Boenher Boozing, Boozing Boenher... in my opinion, he'[s] always been the tale-in- participant.... = Comes in on the tale in of everything not knowing the full front in or whole picture of everything. Or How did Elvis title the song
"The Great Pretender" And as far as Joe is concerned revealing or unveiling this information.... Hey, the truth has to come out sometime.... lololo!!!

I only like Joe when he bashes GOPers.
That occasion is so rare, that his thumbs-down for the conservative fellows works much effective than of other MSNBC anchors.

as I posted earlier, Joe has a problem deciding if he is a democrat or republican.

Don't be fooled. He is a republican, just playing to his audience.

"According to statistics on alcoh0l abuse and alcoh0lism statistics and facts, about 43% of U.S. adults, namely, 76 million individuals, have been exposed to alc0holism in the family. That is, these people grew up with or married an alc0holic or a problem drinker or had a blood relative who was an alcoh0lic or problem drinker."

My suspicion is the problem is statistically much higher in the right-wing... The Tea party ain't just sippin Tea folks...

HAAHAHAHAH....

Let me get this straight... Boehner's response to allegations he does not work hard is: But look at all the money I raise at fundraisers!

???

Oh I see Steele, he's working hard, just not for the people who elected him but for the party he represents. Thanks for clearing it up!

Hey Bude: Boehner is the only minority leader there is. That's the whole difference.

Great response spokesman, Boehner spends all of his time raising money. Not doing the job he was elected for, rather just raising money. I'm glad my tax dollars pay the salary of a man who instead of doing his job, raises money.

July 1 (Bloomberg) -- The price of looking good increases by 10 percent today when a tax on "indoor tanning" created by the U.S. health-care reform bill takes effect.

No wonder Johnny boy was so peeved that health care passed!!

The tax is expected to raise $2.7 billion over 10 years, according to a March 10 estimate by the Joint Committee on Taxation, and will help pay for the estimated $940 billion overhaul of health care.

This explains why he wants to raise the retirement age to 70. If the average American had his work ethic and schedule, we could work until 90 without anything more than a sore elbow.

I wonder why the right wing isn't spinning this one? Maybe they are I never look at Faux. If Joe says one more thing that isn't in the Republican Weekly talking points memo. They're going to throw him "out of the Party".

This is just another issue in a long list of problems that there are with John Boehner. People need to wake up and realize that we can work together to get this guy out of office. This year he has an excellent opponent in Justin Coussoule and it is time that the public, and especially the DCCC got on board with helping him out. Please help get Justin some more visibility: http://bit.ly/9eYoaM and http://bit.ly/cVJvGo

You don't have the right to criticize any other person, Mr. Ex-Congressman,
even if you're correct.
