Obama Overjoyed By Kringles At O&H Danish Bakery (PHOTOS): "It Makes You Happy!"

Julie Pace for the Associated Press: RACINE, Wis. — The rap on President Barack Obama is that he doesn't show enough emotion. But on Wednesday, a pastry made him happy.

En route to a town hall event on the economy, Obama made a surprise detour to O&H Danish Bakery, purveyor of a delicacy called a kringle – a large round flat pastry with a hole in the middle.

Obama walked in with his jacket off and sleeves rolled up and shook hands with the dozen patrons in the store. He sampled a pecan kringle, proclaimed it "outstanding" and added: "It makes you happy."

He ordered one pecan and one cherry. A saleswoman recommended the cheese as well, so he said, "Let's get a third!" He insisted on paying full price – $7.45 each.

I'm a supporter of the Presidents and maybe it's just me, but I really hate pictures of people eating.

The things a politician has to do!

He hates sweets. Why does he have to pretend to be like the rest of us?

I am envious, but pastry is way off the beaten path of good nutrition.

I gotta say, kringles were a revelation to me. Far superior to ordinary Danish.

O&H Bakery ships, and their kringles ARE insanely good!

Careful, Mr. Prez -- you'll need a dozen fast pick-up games to work that off!

Probably worth it.

500 people commenting on Obama eating a piece of pastry. Now that's what I call a successful distraction!

The occasional treat is acceptable, ask any dietician. Those who are commenting about Obama's eating habits, I have a question for you. What has he eaten since Hellburger and O&H Bakery?
Obama going to a local place instead of a chain is a good thing for O&H, brings in business. That can never be a bad thing.
