Sarah Palin's Foreign Policy Manifesto: Brought To You By Facebook

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 07/04/10 12:19 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 05:55 PM ET

Sarah Palin dropped her lengthy foreign policy manifesto on Facebook last week and we'd like to recap some of the former vice presidential candidate's key points.

Building on a speech that she gave at "Freedom Fest" in Norfolk, Virginia last week, Sarah Palin expressed a hawkish doctrine outlining her sharp disagreement with the Obama Administration on nine key areas of foreign policy.

Palin calls for expanding the nation's naval fleet, eliminating the current withdrawal timetable in Afghanistan, reinforcing unconditional ties with Israel, taking a stronger stance on human rights in countries like Iran and China (while stepping back from diplomacy with "some of the world's worst regimes"), as well as embracing "American exceptionalism" and America's position as "the dominant military superpower."

Some see Palin's manifesto as a sign that she is trying incorporate these positions into the Tea Party platform and perhaps take the lead on foreign policy heading into the 2012 elections.

"In the conservative ranks and within the party, she's really quite a crucial piece in this puzzle," Tom Donnelly, defense fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, told Josh Rogin of Foreign Policy. "She's got both political and Tea Party/small government bona fides, but she also has a lot of credibility in advocating for military strength."

Here are the key points from Palin's Facebook post on foreign policy:

Defense Spending
1 of 10
Palin argues that the Obama administration should "cut spending in other departments- apart from defense." She warns that we must make sure not to "undermine the effectiveness of our military" because "if we lose wars, if we lose the ability to deter adversaries, if we lose the ability to provide security for ourselves and for our allies, we risk losing all that makes America great!"

I have a modest suggestion.
Palin has Twitter and Facebook.
Fox pays her to drone on.
Anyone who wants to listen to her drivel can find it.
Must every other bit of media give her attention she doesn't merit?
I fully expect to open my computer one day to find the headline "Palin Burps!" Pundits debate the significance of the belch...The extreme left insists it was a fart...the right is claiming she was simply doing her bit for alternative energy...full story at 5!

You know, I started voting on these, but quickly came to the realization that I am voting on one inanity over another. What a waste of time, just like the subject of this article.

So basically Palin wants to wage war all over the planet and drive us deeper in debt through increased defense spending. What a loon.

So Palin wants to "step back from.....some of the world's worst regimes", does she? Someone tell her the American people already did just that - by kicking the republicans out of the White House in 2008.

Ms. Palin apparently managed to sleep through all her history and civics classes in all those colleges she attended. It seems as though she's tried to make up for it by reading a GOP talking-points memo.

Don't you think it's time to change the term "neocon" into "old-con" to show its true nature?

Co-sign! Who's with me? If they can call it the "Democrat" party, we should be able to use oldcon.

I like it!

Its Bush not Cheney. There is a big difference between Bush and Cheney. Bush was an idiot who actually believed his own propaganda that the US wants to spread democracy. One of the few times he did something without or going against the advise of Uncle Dick and forced Israel to have elections in Palestine and Egypt to have fairly free (for Egypt) elections the results were disasterous both times. In both cases "our guys" lost and Islamic extremists won, forcing Egypt and Israel that we all love democracy as long as the vote comes out the way we like it. Another good example is the fact that Hugo Chavez, who is one of the most popular leaders in South America and has been re-elected in elections that are as free and fair as any in the world today is referred to as a "dictator". Again, elections don't count if they don't come out the way we want.

I sort of got off on a tangent, my main point was that Palin is more like Bush, even dumber and I wouldn't have thought that was possible. Cheney was evil but not dumb.

Her manifesto is clearly war mongering. However she said nothing about doing ANYTHING for the American people. All she said was cut programs here, Nothing on job creation, education, health care, infrastructure, energy, etc.She will take the whole budget and put it toward military.-

I so hope that she runs in the Republican primary...watching Romney and Guilliani trying to kiss her butt while debating her simplistic view of global politics should be a hoot. We'll learn more about "lip-sticked pit bulls" adverse relationships with polar bear cubs while their mother polar bear is off to Washington to herd pink elephants that are driving Republican's to Jenny Craig's whose monthly diet dessert special is "Baked Alaska with a chocolate "oil" sauce to commemorate her fight to permit PB to initiate more deep water drilling in Actic Ice where polar bear cubs might be adversely affected by the oil spills that could help destroy the Northern edge of the North American Continent so it would even out the destruction PB created on the Southern part of the United States...PERIOD
