Geoff Blum Injury: Astro Injured Putting On Clothes

Embarrassing: Astros Infielder Hurts Himself Putting On A SHIRT

On Sunday, Geoff Blum went on the disabled list with an elbow injury. Not terribly bizarre. But Blum's injury is one of a kind. After his game on Thursday, Blum heard a pop in his elbow as he put on his shirt. Doctors found loose bodies floating around in his elbow, according to MLB.com.

While the injury seems laughable and pathetic at first glimpse, it could be serious. According to the Houston Chronicle, Blum will be examined in Houston today to see if he needs surgery. If needed, Blum would be unavailable for a month. Astros general manager Ed Wade believes that surgery is imminent.

In 1998, while still in the minor leagues, Blum had a similar injury -- not a similar cause though. Blum broke into the MLB with the Montreal Expos in 1999 and has been a utility infielder for the Houston Astros this season, playing first base, second base, third base and shortstop this year.
