Arizona’s S.B. 1070 is clearly a reaction to the poor federal policies that have plagued U.S. immigration for over 40 years. The Border States’ cities fill the list of top 100 most ethnically diverse cities in America. All 4 of the Border States are in the top ten most ethnically diverse states in the United States. The U.S. Federal Government has admitted failure in securing America’s borders for the last 4 decades. Clearly, the U.S. needs immigration reform. The U.S. currently issues 140,000 green cards per year, but there are still 12,000,000 illegal immigrants working and living within its borders. There is clearly a market for their services. The current enacted legislation has effectively created a war zone on America’s southern border, and it forced the combination of the smuggling of humans to work and illegal drugs. Without legally separating the two, the U.S. will never be able to deal with the organized crime surrounding drug smuggling into its borders. The immigrants who are crossing the border to work should be able to legally, and the U.S. Federal Government should recognize the need to permit immigration from all nations as a key factor in bettering, maintaining, and enhancing the American economy. The U.S. cannot track, tax, or maintain the behavior of individuals without legally permitting them to work. After forty years, it is obvious that they are going to seek work, legally or illegally, inside the United States’ borders.

Forget Mexico! If Mexico would stop their citizens from coming up north we wouldn't have this problem. But of course this is all Arizona's fault right? Give me a break.

Governor Brewer has her primary election chances ahead of the good of the country. The other border states need to agree to move the conference from Arizona and get on with the business of finding ways to curb drug smuggling, gun running and other border issues. Jan Brewer is much too busy running for office to host a conference of this importance.

SANTA ANA – A 19-year-old man was convicted of attempted voluntary manslaughter Wednesday for stabbing his estranged girlfriend multiple times in the back after begging her for one last kiss before he left for Mexico.

Miguel D. Calderon, of Santa Ana, was also convicted of assault with a deadly weapon, domestic battery, misdemeanor vandalism and several penalty enhancements for the November 2008 attack on his then-17-year-old ex-girlfriend, the mother of his child.

The seven-man, five-woman jury acquitted Calderon of burglary and attempted murder with premeditation and deliberation. Had the jury convicted Calderon of that crime, he could have faced a possible life sentence.

But because the jury found him guilty of the lesser offense of attempted voluntary manslaughter, he now faces a maximum term of 11 ½ years in prison at his sentencing on Sept. 17 by Superior Court Judge Carla M. Singer.

She has reduced her executive powers to politicizing federal immigration laws for political beneifit using r@cist and xenophobic appeals that target the latino community as terrorists and deny them the right to learn about their history and culture. The Mexico Governors gripes against Az are exactly like the Palestine leaders griping about Israel while they continue to launch rockets at Israel!
Mexico only cares about US $$$$$ coming back to them--the US is their Jobs program.
Az has been challenged 7 times of previous legislation/enforcement of laws they passed to reign in Illegals being rewarded and AZ has won all 7.
Just as Israel is attacked every day by those wanting to harm them, so too are Americans being harmed by Mexico-time for Mexico to realize this is actually not going to be tolerated, no matter what loony is elected to political office. Bush/McCain were wrong on this issue and so is Barry!

"after all six Mexican border governors wrote to her to say they intended to boycott the gathering to protest the new law" Brewer can hardly be blamed for wanting to cancel the conference.
"Their position is in line with that of President Felipe Calderón of Mexico" Ok that is to be expected. Mexico feels their citizens should have a right to ignore our laws. They have said so.
They have joined a court suit and applaude the US DoJ suit to try to stop the law. There is a lot riding on the status quo for Mexico. What they really want is amnesty for their citizens here illegally, all 12 to 25 million of them.
But I do wonder why Arizona is so important to them. Can't they just come in through New Mexico? They have a lot of open desert too.
Mexico does not want border security. Until they do, we cannot secure our border or even count how many of their citizens are here. If we do it would have to be military and then they would really scream.
One of the topics could be security, but you can bet it won't be, Especially without Brewer there.
