WHY: The current work of artist Carol Henry is based on president, Barack Obama. Having started the series of monthly paintings in January 2009, the artist has continued to make a painting of Obama each month. They are based on current events, life size and in the folk art tradition of story telling. These portraits place the president in societal and cultural roles, as well as addressing current events as the presidency unfolds in real time. Henry has recently completed the second oil spill painting and is now painting a supreme court painting for July. Now through July 25th the paintings will be on exhibit at the artists studio. After which time the growing exhibit will be traveling. Call for hours. 818-991-0009.
