Palin Spending Fec Filing

JUNEAU, Alaska — Sarah Palin's political action committee contributed at least $87,500 to candidates she's endorsed in the last few months, according to a report filed Sunday with the Federal Elections Commission.

But SarahPAC's financial disclosure also shows Palin spending more than $210,000 on consulting.

Along with expenditures, the report list 529 itemized receipts from donors -- but only one from Palin's home state of Alaska. Full details from the latest filing are available on the FEC website.

Candidates receiving money from Palin for the period covering April 1 to June 30 include former Gov. Terry Branstad, who won last month's Republican gubernatorial primary in Iowa, and Joe Miller, who's challenging Alaska U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the August GOP primary. Each received $5,000.

Among Palin's other high-profile endorsements, Republican Carly Fiorina, who's running for the U.S. Senate from California, received $2,500.

Sharron Angle, who's challenging U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada, also got $2,500. Nikki Haley, who's running for governor in South Carolina and for whom Palin personally campaigned, got no money, according to the filings.

Palin entered the reporting period with more than $916,000 on hand. She received more than $865,800 in contributions, and ended the period with more than $1 million on hand, according to the filings.

That leaves her with more than $1 million to help campaigns this fall, PAC treasurer Tim Crawford said.

"We're going to really help a lot of Republican candidates get a chance to win," he said. "And I'm glad we have the resources there for the governor to use."

Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, has been mentioned as a possible contender for the 2012 presidential nomination. She hasn't ruled out a bid but aides have maintained her focus is on this year's elections and on getting conservative candidates elected.

While Palin has supported tea party favorites like Angle across the country, her endorsement of the more mainstream Branstad was seen as a pragmatic pick.

If Branstad wins this fall, he'll be a highly sought-after political ally among 2012 Republican presidential hopefuls, given Iowa's historical role in hosting the leadoff caucuses in the nomination process.

It's been a whirlwind year for Palin. Last July, she resigned midway through her first term as Alaska governor amid a barrage of ethics complaints and media scrutiny that followed her home after the 2008 election. Most of the complaints ultimately were dismissed.

In announcing her resignation, she said she'd take the unconventional route in advocating for less government, individual rights and energy independence. Palin also said she'd support like-minded candidates, and she's become a political phenomenon whose support – and celebrity – are actively sought by candidates.

Sunday's FEC report said that Palin's consulting fees fell under a range of categories, including grassroots and communication, media, national and foreign affairs, and coalitions consulting.

Additional spending went toward air travel, car rentals and lodging, postage and mailings, and cell phones.

According to the Wall St. Journal/NBC poll, normal Americans have precisely the same low opinion of Palin as they do of Bush:

Palin reality check: Tomorrow is the one-year anniversary of Sarah Palin’s announcement that she was quitting her first term as Alaska governor. Since that time, however, she hasn’t stayed away from the news — she wrote a book, signed a contract with FOX, has  Read More...

St. Sarah should spend a little of her PAC funds for a new hairstyle. That long bangs/pulled and pinned back look bespeaks its origin at the Wasilla Cutie Cut and Curl Boutique (located next to the Wasilla Family Dollar Store) for a big time reality/freak show creation such as herself.

If she's got $210,000 to spend on consultation; maybe some of it went towards a "50-state" personality.

Brings a whole new meaning to "deficit spending"; don't it?

On writing about Sarah Palin's Biggest Lie:
The Whys of a philosophical and political Mama
http://litbrit.blogspot.com/
Why me? Why now? Well, as I've written--to friends, and to readers who've sent supportive e-mails, and in a few comment threads--I simply grew weary of waiting for someone in the mainstream media to join Andrew Sullivan and a handful of bloggers and demand some truth. Demand that a politican who makes enormous claims that are, on their face, fraught with the possibility (probability?) of being opportunistic lies in the disgusting extreme--claims on which she has built a political base and, in large part, a career, but which are full of holes that are glaringly evident to even the most casual observer--be held accountable.

Babygate, as it is called, is indeed a huge scandal, and it's one that could have a number of attendant sub-scandals attached to it. Addressing it isn't simple; in fact, as Patrick has said, It's exhausting. It all makes my head hurt, said Audrey. And then there is the backlash: people don't like having their comfortable assumptions about what is normal behavior for a politician, or a woman, pulled out from under them like The Dude's rug in The Big Lebowski--the rug that "tied the whole room together". It throws everything they know and believe into flux.

Most stunning expenditure: $2700 to Lindsay Hayes for speechwriting.

Somebody writes those garbled messes for her? And gets PAID?

“Palin's legacy so far:
1) She took a small town with no debt to speak of and left it with over 20 million in debt - that is a 2,000% increase.
2) As governor of Alaska, she left her state with a 70% debt to GDP, to put this in focus, California is at a 40% debt to GDP.
3) As governor she charged the state not only for personal expenses (not related to the job), but also charged the state for the personal expenses of her husband and kids (who are not even qualified for such compensation).
4) She set up a PAC, receiving contributions from her lemmings, then using the PAC to purchase her own book even to this day. If she simply transferred PAC money to her personal account directly, that would be a crime, but by having the PAC buy her books she can legally collect the royalties.
5) She attacks someone for using a teleprompter when using one herself.
6) In an effort to get out of the findings of a bipartisan committee that found her guilty of abuse of power, she called for an investigation on herself, allowing her, under state law, to appoint her own cronies to investigate her.
7) She failed to report taxable property although she was governor and expected to at least make a show of abiding by the law of the land.
8) When facing ethics investigations she chose to quit rather than to simply come clean.”

No, it's not SarahPAC, but her "Alaska Fund Trust" - the "trust" created to solicit donations to be used for her legal fees - that was judged illegal, and that has to return over a third of a million dollars to donors.

Don't feel bad - it's hard to keep all her schemes straight.

NAACP, at their recent meeting, spoke out to and against Sarah Palin about her political
agenda, calling it "racist." Palin retorted (on Faux) that the racism charge is unfounded,
and is a way that the opposition is trying to defeat the Tea Party, and that "those over
there on the Left are using this racism accusation to keep people away from the [TP]
movement & keeping the people away from the message and the American people
that IS receiving that message" also too!

(I gotta say a word about Palin's new hair style. I'm sitting on my fingers, but they
got loose and so I can't help myself. She now looks unkempt and frumpy! There,
it was stated in spite of myself!)
