Sonia Sotomayor Book: Supreme Court Justice Working On Memoir In English And Spanish

NEW YORK — The newest Supreme Court justice, Sonia Sotomayor (SOHN'-ya soh-toh-my-YOR'), is writing a memoir.

Sotomayor is working with a collaborator on her life story, from her childhood in the South Bronx to her appointment to the court last year.

Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group said Monday that the book is not yet titled and has no release date set.

The book will come out simultaneously in English and in Spanish.

You know I looked at this headline and thought "So?" I mean so what, many books are translated in time, she is just putting this out at the beginning in two languages, but then of course this is a headline meant only to draw in the tr0//s who will no doubt scream blue bl00dy murd3r that how dare she write this in Spanish!

I know a former POTUS that was fluent in Spanish, never heard anyone on the right say anything negative about a person that is bi-lingual­. Spanish has been taught in public schools for years. Your comment is inane.

The fact that she is a writing a book about her life is a story. The fact it will be released in English and Spanish is a mild news point. If the article were to peg this fact with a trend in publishing because of the growing Hispanic readership in the U.S. then it makes more sense. With so many young kids in the U.S. who are Hispanic or babies being born to Hispanic families I can see the publishing industry wanting to trend this way. The Hispanic market is huge business and publishing has been far behind this. But as it's own story there is not much here. The AP needs to add more flesh to this weak story.

Okay, so it's news that she is writing a book,
but it really isn't anything new that it will also be released in Spanish.
Most books are released in many other languages other than English.
Two of my favorite books are Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angles & Demons" in the ITALIAN LANGUAGE.
So, when Sotomayor'­s book is released in 44 languages like Dan Brown's books THEN that will be news ;)
