Rod Blagojevich: I Never Took A Corrupt Penny (VIDEO)

WATCH: Blagojevich Talks After Defense Rests, Says He Never Took 'A Corrupt Penny'

Rod Blagojevich has been declaring his innocence since his arrest, and vowed that he would have a day in court to share his side of the story. But Wednesday, that all came to an end.

Blagojevich's defense team rested without calling a single witness--and without bringing the former Illinois governor to the stand.

Blagojevich addressed the media outside the Dirksen Federal Courthouse Wednesday, saying that he planned to testify throughout the entire trial. He explained that his lawyers were divided about whether he would take the stand, but that they decided to take the advice of Sam Adam Sr., who he called "the coach" of his defense team.

He went on to say that the government's case proved that he did nothing illegal and that he "never took a corrupt dollar, not a corrupt dime, not a corrupt nickel, not a corrupt penny" for President Obama's former senate seat.

The former governor closed his press conference with some reflection:

"I learned a lot of lessons from this whole experience, perhaps maybe the biggest lesson I've learned...is that I talk too much."
