Darth Vader Bank Robber

Looks like somebody has gone over to the dark side.

A man dressed as Darth Vader stormed a Long Island bank around 11:30 this morning, brandishing a gun and demanding cash from a teller.

Despite the goofy getup, the robber yelled at the cashiers and customers, "This is not a joke!"

The Dark Lord of the Sith made off with an undisclosed amount of money from the Setauket Chase Bank branch.

This is just the latest in a string of odd robberies around New York.

On Wednesday police arrested a man for allegedly robbing a bank using a bouquet of flowers. A woman wearing a cat mask also recently held up a Manhattan shoe store, and an elderly man died in a car crash just days after attempting to rob a store, oxygen tank in tow.

Anyone with information pertaining to the crime or suspect is asked to call 1-800-220-TIPS.

Even the Dark Lord of the Sith struggles to make it thru the economic downturn America pretends isnt Depression 2.

Had he worn a suit and tie and matching briefcase it would have been perfectly legal. Just ask Mr. Diamond (CEO Chase Bank).

Overall, it's pretty funny at a knee jerk level...

But, robberies like this are usually either for the rush of it, or desperation... and from the sounds of it, I don't think these are the kinds of people to fall into the "adrenaline rush" category. (Though, it doesn't say much about them)

but-

"an elderly man died in a car crash just days after attempting to rob a store, oxygen tank in tow."

I find that really depressing... what did that man need money for that badly to try to rob a bank with an oxygen tank? The odds of someone like that succeeding makes me think that perhaps he felt it was a win-win. If he made it somehow, he'd have the money for whatever he needed it for. If he didn't, he'd have all his needs met in jail.

We all know we're in the middle of hard times, and desperate actions rise during hard times.

This is happened right around the corner from where I live and three stores down from where my son works. Actually my son was on the news last night since he gave the detectives the license plate of a car that looked suspicious right near the elementary school, which is where the robber went. So we'll see what comes of that. It was a unique license plate relating to "Star Wars". Of course, my son right on WPIX-11 had to make a comment about the robber not having a light saber, etc. Then, of course, out of the 10 minutes they interviewed him, this is one of two statements they chose to use for the broadcast. Got to love the MSM.

Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force. Gimme da' money!

You know there is some innocent Star Wars nerd in Long Island that wears this outfit every day who's really pissed.

Why didn't he use his light sabre?

For the record, Setauket has also produced wrestling legend Mick Foley and comedian Kevin James. They are both humbled by this new brazen superstar.
