Sharron Angle Runs From Reporters At Her Own Press Conference (VIDEO)

Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle proved to be camera shy once again when she declined to take questions from reporters at a media-friendly event organized by her campaign on Wednesday.

The Republican hopeful's camp described the Reno, Nev. gathering as a "press conference" held to publicize Angle's signing of a pledge to repeal the "death tax" -- better known as the estate tax -- if she were to be elected to the Senate.

When local reporters attempted to ask Angle questions, the GOP hopeful all but ignored their presence. At the end of the event she bolted quickly.

As she left the press conference a local television reporter called after her: "Sharron, will you answer some questions really quickly." Angle did not turn around and a member of her staff responded, "We're running behind, I'm sorry."

In a previous interview Angle outlined her press strategy.

"The whole point of an interview is to use it like they say, 'earned media,' to earn something with it," Angle recently told CBN's David Brody. "And I'm not going to earn anything from people who are there to badger me and use my words to batter me with."

First of all, it wasn't "her press conference". It was Dick Patten's. Secondly, this event was held twice, once in Reno, and once in Las Vegas. She took questions in Las Vegas.

Why does Sharron Angle “run from the press”?

Maybe it’s because:

1) Most mainstream media members aren’t interested in the truth, or in portraying conservatives fairly.

2) Mainstream media (e.g., Politico, Time, The Huffington Post, The Washington Post) would rather conspire to conceal the relationship between Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright at a critical time in a presidential election, or conspire to portray any conservative as a racist (just pick one!), or wish an agonizing death on Rush Limbaugh, or shut down Fox News, or compare Tea Partiers to Nazis, or destroy Sarah Palin.

3) She needs campaign contributions, and Obama didn't fly to Nevada, twice, at a cost of approximately $1 million per trip in taxpayer funds, to do fundraisers for her, while the fawning media tells sunny happy stories about it.

4) The press isn’t really interested in her views. They are interested in trapping her. See #1.

5) Since, according to liberal media, conservatives can’t read anyway, she’s saving her breath for talk radio.

6) Her supporters don’t watch mainstream media on TV either.

7) Her views are on her website, and are presented on numerous radio talk shows. Read, and listen, if you dare.

8) Don’t worry media members! She'll speak to you before November, if your audience hasn't evaporated by then.

Using your words to badger you? Umm...what's really amazing is that this woman is so dense that she doesn't see any irony at all in that statement. But, I suppose I'm using her words to badger her,too.

The latest Mason-Dixon poll showed Harry with 44% to Angle's 37%. Six months ago every poll showed Harry losing to ANY Republican by double-digits. But Sharron is not just ANY Republican now is she?

If Reid had a hand in Angle's primary victory, it was a stroke of genius. This person is quite simply un-electable.

Who ever is advising her, I say keep it up. She's running her campaign into the ground and nobody will vote for her. You can't run a campaign based on pointing fingers and then not explain what you mean with comments and avoiding questions on where you stand. Is she learning her tricks from Palin??? Great job Sharron, I'm sure the voters of Nevada are just jumping at the chance to vote you in...

Back when I was a newbie reporter, I had to corner the Conservative candidate for premier of our province (that's kind of like a state governor, except that the premier is also leader of the party in the legislature) and ask him for an interview because I had to cover two other events that evening, including photos at a high school volleyball championship, and couldn't stay for all of his speech. He cheerfully agreed that it would be terrible if the paper didn't get a picture of the home team winning and sat down with me to summarize his speech and answer questions. This was nearly 30 years ago, when many Conservatives still had class and didn't treat the media as their private PR company.
