Angelina Jolie: My Face Was Scarred By 'Salt'

SAN DIEGO — She wasn't computer generated, and she wasn't even wearing a costume.

That didn't stop Angelina Jolie, clad in a snug shiny black jacket, from dazzling the crowd at Comic-Con on Thursday afternoon as she promoted her spy action-thriller "Salt," which opens Friday.

"She's so pretty," said convention goer Christina Torres, who waited Thursday morning in a line that snaked outside the San Diego Convention Center to catch Jolie in the flesh. "I mean, I always knew she was pretty, but when you see her in person, you realize just how pretty she is."

The A-list actress tiptoed around fan questions about her mysterious character Evelyn Salt, who may or may not be a Russian spy.

"There's a real duplicity to her personality," she said. "There's a part of her that's not necessarily a good guy, and because of certain things that happened to her, she's a bit damaged. She's not just heroic. She's not even. She's not just brave. There's something a little off about her, and maybe there's something off about me."

Jolie performed her own stunts in "Salt" and recounted an on-set injury to the audience that left her scarred. She sliced open part of her face just above her nose when tumbling into a doorway with a gun.

Jolie said she first thought she suffered a concussion because she couldn't hear anything, but later realized she was wearing earplugs.

Comic-Con continues at the San Diego Convention Center through Sunday.

Are there really folks out there who care what the movie rankings are? Just thought about it w/ this Inception vs Salt hype, even though rankings come out after big movies open. Usually they're worth a casual glance for me, but this one seems so contrived just to draw attention. I hadn't planned to see either movie. The story lines of both seem so manufactured as to be fully unconvincing, especially that of Inception. But fantasy of course can be a strong attraction and works for some movies.

Good lord! Angelina needs to EAT SOMETHING. Her legs (recent airport pics) looks hideously bony. *Pax's outfit is adorable though. I picture the kids having their own assistants pick out very fashionable "photo op" outfits for them. I really do.

Don't y'all find it something that with the HUGE PR BLITZ of Angelina Jolie for Salt, that it still came in #2? Leo Dicaprio's movie was in its 2nd week.

I mean, Angelina has been everywhere, giving all kinds of soundbites such as "something must be off about me too" to grab headlines, and STILL the movie came in 2nd. Kinda funny in a way.

I'm going to see Iception again. No amount of hype can make a movie number 1 - it just has to be good.

Even though the reports here are not favorable for Salt I think I will give it a try for actoin.

How does Salt compare to Knight and Day - anyone?

I saw Salt - thought it was a blast - lots of twists (though I picked the biggest one early on) - much better acting than Knight and Day, better action scenes, and a better storyline altogether - a fun ride for the summer.

I liked Knight and Day much! The script, timing and delivery by Cruise and Diaz were A-1, not to mention the chemistry between the actors. Haven't seen Salt, but may check it out. I'm not a fan of Jolie's acting, though I did like her portrayal of Marianne Pearl in "A Mighty Heart." She enabled the audience (me anyway) to look past her, appreciate the story of Danny and Marianne Pearl and the suspense of the tragedy that unfolded for them.

Her film came in #2 at the weekend box office, not bad, but certainly not #1 like her fans predicted. Inception beat it out, and was #1 yet again for the 2nd week in a row. Leo Dicaprio RULES.
