We've all the seen the promos. The day Apple releases it's latest must-have gadget, we all go running to their site to watch their developers and designers sit in front of a white backdrop and talk about the product. Their superlatives and accents leave us feeling dying to get our hands on the product.

So why not make one for clunky bumper that's now necessary for the flawed new iPhone? Slate has envisioned what this would look like, parodying the classic Apple videos. And as usual, Jony Ives can sell us anything. It's easily Apple's coolest product.

Pretty funny. I don't even dislike Apple products, but this iPhone 4 ad made my IQ drop a little bit. It's not "magical", it is an electronic device.

God, that was brilliant. I truly thought I'd seen the british guy hyping some version of the iPhone. Great, great satire. It's so rare that they get this kind of thing right. Worthy of the Daily-Show medal of honor.

OK, I know the ad is a goof. Got that. But back to the actual issue - they mess up and make a phone that doesn't work right - and then make a "fix it" that you have to buy?
