Alaska Rockwood

Los Angeles Times:

Reporting from King Salmon, Alaska -- He was the local weatherman, sending up weather balloons twice a day above this remote community of 450 full-time residents near Bristol Bay and preparing short-term forecasts for pilots and fishermen.

She was a stay-at-home mom who drove their 4-year-old to preschool, sang in the town choir and picked berries with her girlfriends. She took part in the community play, in which she portrayed a fairy godmother who acted as a prosecutor in court, confronting the Big Bad Wolf for his crimes against Little Red Riding Hood, the Three Little Pigs and the Boy Who Cried Wolf.

...

This week, Paul and Nadia Rockwood pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Anchorage to one count of willfully making false statements to the FBI; in Paul Rockwood's case, it was a statement about domestic terrorism.

They were accused of misstating facts to federal law enforcement--which is a crime punishable by up to 5 years in prison, and is similar to what they got Martha Stewart on.

Basically when the government has a weak case against you, they send out some feds and trick you into making a material misstatement, and then use the threat of multiple years in jail to get you to cop to a plea deal.

Face it. All Americans are basically federal criminals as soon as some government official takes a disliking to you. Never talk to a cop, federal or otherwise. NEVER. Assert your 5th amendment right and then SHUT UP. If you violate that rule, have fun in prison.

A couple of YouTube videos of Rockwell talking about his conversion to Islam. In the first one the interview with him starts at about 2:00. In the second one, he talks about the ultimate conversion of all Americans to Islam (first 2 minutes of second video).
(Yes, really. Including him talking about how Islam is better for women. Yes . . . really.)

Why can't we all just agree that God doesn't exist? And if He does exist, he's a sadist?

And His followers are insane?

Reminds me of revolutionary communism back in the early days.

"We're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here."

Yet another example of just how disingenuous the fallacy that the Bush administration used to constantly parrot was.

Notice that we didn't have an at.tack in over 8 years.

That's what was meant. Now, the J!had is going viral... What do you think is the best way to confront an ideology like this? I'm all ears.

The best way is by not brainwashing the citizens with hate, where they become gullible and follow anything they are told is "hot" or "cool". This guy converts to Islam in 2001 and his first act of showing his devotion to Islam is to plot a terroristic act (so, we are told by the media) simply because he visited an internet site. But then, how do we know that people are not deliberately converting to Islam, then pulling "I-am-a-terrorist-come-catch-me" propaganda, in order to keep the Islam=Terrorism narrative going in the media. Alaska+Palin's objection to building a mosque near the site of 9/11= who knows what ...

I have no actual respect for the Campaignotainer but this is not her or Obama's fault. This is the kind of thing religious nut jobs are always only a step away from if not right there. Does hating people enough to make a list of their names and propose some ways that maybe you might harm them the same thing as actually harming anyone? I suspect that is why they are getting fairly light sentences but we should not rule out the possibility that a plea bargain can be a complete sham in that the prosecution never actually has to show its hand. Mainly I find the idea that the nice people next door might by acting like this behind closed doors really disturbing but I say we should hold steady and not do a Bush era freak out. The FBI was obviously all over them from very early on. I really don't want to fear my neighbors even though they could be up to any sort of nutty behavior and yes that includes you!

Any rumors of $arah palin' around with these folks?????? lol Actually they might be too discriminating to pal around with the likes of her.

I hope they've at least been in the same place at the same time. Then when she makes her run for Prez, we've got an instant counterweight for Ayers.

If not, we've always got hubby the secessionist waiting in the wings.
