With this awesome Solar Panel Advisor app, you can turn your iPad into a virtual solar panel and calculate how much energy a solar panel could generate from that location. The app lets you configure the size of the solar panel and takes into account factors like your geographical location and the cloud cover in the sky. Best of all, it only costs $1.99!

There is a use that NO one came up with and that is the friendly user smasher. Yes, lets say someone wants to view your I pad and you are just tired of showing to strangers . Grip the I pad with both hands and smash it over the persons head.

The I pad is light weight and have the effect you want of being a crazed sick person.

Reading a book on the iPad is not even close to being as energy efficient as reading on e-ink based readers like Kindle, Nook et al. And as others have said, the greenest iPad is no iPad.

The greenest iPad is no iPad at all. Stop being such a mega-consumer especially on a product you know is going to become obsolete in ten hot seconds when Apple releases iPad 2nd generation! Then third generation! Then fourth! And then iPad part one winds up in landfill.

I mean if you really want/need an iPad use an iPad, but this article takes the oxymoron to a new level. Really, HuffPo Green?

So true, I was thinking the same thing. I don't think most consumers "need" an ipad, although I can see the potential use for business/medical services, etc, as a device that is more portable than even a laptop. As an avid apple follower, I cannot stand behind the concept of ipad applications that will help someone go green - just don't buy more electricity-hogging gadgets in the first place!

The sprocket app seems more glitz than brains.

So according to their site you wear the iPad exposed on your back (nothing like advertizing that you have something valuable to steal) and then you can trigger one of several messages for turning, stopping, etc. And how do you trigger those messages? By tapping on the screen of course...which is attached to your back while riding a bicycle. Yeah, that'll work real well....

I don't get people's passion for apps. I have an Android 2.1 cellphone since two months now, and never uploaded an app to it. And I consider myself to be a geek freak!

Wow, all those apps are kinda useless and a majority are totally useless. The only app that has any real importance is google map/navigator.

does anyone know if you can use the ipad like a composition book?... meaning taking notes with a pen-like device and saving it for later reference?
