Colbert Returns, Takes On Sherrod Fiasco (VIDEO)

Stephen Colbert returned from break last night and while he didn't sport any new facial hair, he did give us his take on the Shirley Sherrod fiasco. After cracking open a Bud Light Lime, Colbert went on to attack not only the right-wing pundits who called out-of-context snippets of Sherrod's speech racist, but the Obama Administration for fearing them so much as to fire Sherrod without cause.

Pointing out that CNN.com called Sherrod's termination "a teachable moment," Colbert argued that the only thing we learned was that "the administration is finally so scared of right-wing pundits, that it will take swift and decisive action on problems that have no basis in fact."

Colbert then urged the administration to fire more people based on controversial soundbites he himself had uncovered. Using some not-so-subtle editing, he cut to a clip of Hillary Clinton calling for the murder of innocent people via the internet. "How long can Hilary Clinton keep her job after seeming to say this?"

Just saw K. Klien tonight. Steve had an agenda to highlight Kliens abilities, but as fast as Steve went, Kevin was playing catch up. Thought it was hilarious, and you could tell Steve is a big fan!

I think Kevin will want a rematch, & it will be a classic.

I am SO glad that I decided to look at the comedy section of HP tonight. I had to replay this one. Hilarious and heart-wrenching at the same time... I might just have to watch it a third time to watch that guy -- Riley? -- again. If Cheney could order that all TVs he might happen to glance at be turned to Fox, I don't see why the President couldn't order Gibbs and Emmanuel to watch nothing but Colbert until the election. I really think the WH might finally learn from Colbert what the difference is between the two teams that will be fighting for control over the country in November.

What right-wing pundits called the out-or-context snippets racist? I have read that Glenn Beck actually got on the right side on this one, but I didn't read that he denounced Fox news or Breitbart. No right-wing pundits called the snippets racist, they said the snippets proved that Sherrod was racist. Language has meaning.

I had watched the video of Chris Wallace and Howard Dean today that was aired on Fox News Sunday. Mr. Wallace wanted Mr. Dean to show that Fox News ran with the story. Well Mr. Wallace you failed to tell the whole story...It was your News Department that feed your everyday proxies the racist lie that got aired 24 hours before the truth began to see the light of day.
